Year 4 Overnight Experience
This week, our Year 4 boys participated in a memorable Overnight Experience held at the College. A new addition to the Junior School calendar, this event is an important milestone in the College's Character and Formation Program.
Designed to further foster independence, resilience, and connection, the experience provided boys with the opportunity to step beyond their comfort zones and discover more about themselves and one another. It also provided an opportunity for the boys to be grateful for the opportunities they have at Trinity and express this gratitude to their families.
For many students, this was their first time spending a night away from home. While this brought understandable nerves, the boys approached the challenge with courage and enthusiasm. Throughout the camp, they demonstrated a willingness to embrace new experiences, support their peers, and develop the confidence that comes from overcoming challenges.
The action-packed program offered a range of exciting activities. Boys worked collaboratively during the Amazing Race, tested their patience and persistence while fishing, and developed teamwork and problem-solving skills through rafting activities. A particular highlight was damper cooking, led by Mr Walley, where students gathered to prepare and enjoy a traditional outdoor treat.
While the activities themselves were memorable, the true success of the camp lay in the personal growth shown by the boys. They demonstrated courage by trying unfamiliar experiences, resilience when activities became challenging, and kindness in the way they encouraged and supported one another. These are the qualities we seek to nurture through our Character and Formation Program, helping boys develop into young men of character and purpose.
On Friday, boys, staff, and parents attended a Liturgy, providing an opportunity for reflection and gratitude. This reflection provided time to recognise how much each boy has grown throughout the year and the many blessings that surround them.
We extend our gratitude to Ms Mennie, Mrs Balla, Ms Cukrov, and Mr Holdman for their dedication, care, and encouragement throughout the experience. We are also grateful to the Outdoor Education staff, whose expertise and support ensured a safe, engaging, and rewarding program for all involved.
Most importantly, we congratulate our Year 4 boys. Their willingness to give things a go, be comfortable with being uncomfortable, and embrace new challenges was a wonderful reflection of the spirit of Trinity. We are incredibly proud of the growth, maturity, and character they displayed throughout the experience.
God Bless,
Mr James McPherson
