Compass User Guide 

A reminder to families to please use the Compass app or website for all school communication. It is the main platform for staying connected with the school and accessing important information about your child’s learning and daily activities.

Parents and carers can use Compass to:

• Communicate directly with teachers
• View student timetables
• Submit attendance notes and explain absences * see below for instructions
• Receive school announcements and updates
• Access newsletters and important notices
• View upcoming events and excursions
• Provide consent and make payments for excursions or activities
• Monitor your child’s attendance record
• Check assessment tasks and due dates (where applicable)

• Update contact details and family information

Student Absences in Compass

Reminder to Families – Entering and Explaining Student Absences in Compass

Marking and explaining student absences in Compass is the responsibility of parents/guardians. If your child is absent, arrives late, or leaves early, parents must record the reason directly in the Compass portal or app. Promptly updating your child’s attendance helps ensure school records are accurate and meets Department of Education requirements.

How to mark an absence using the Compass App

1. Open the Compass School Manager app on your phone.
2. Log in using your parent account.
3. On the home screen, tap “Add Attendance Note” or “Explain Absence.”
4. Select your child’s name.
5. Enter the required details:
   • Date of absence
   • Reason (e.g., illness, appointment, family reason)
6. Tap Submit / Save.

✔ The absence will now appear as explained in the school’s system.
