Future of Work (Energy) Excursion
On Monday 23rd February, year 7 students completing Digital Technologies attended Wyndham Tech to learn about future jobs in the energy industry. Students experienced VR industry work, Drones use, machine building with Lego Spike and Game Development in Unreal Engine to teach energy efficiency. We look forward to taking the second half of year 7 next semester.
Interschool Debating
Round One Results
Last week Altona College competed in the DAV Interschool Debating competition, round one. We had two teams compete in the year 12 division, and came out with one win and one loss. We had two teams compete in the year 9 division, and also had one win and one loss.
Three of our students won best speaker on the night: Vivienne Camilleri, Liam Mitchell and Athan Donaldson. It was a fantastic start to the 2026 competition.
Year 7 students have put their scientific skills into action by investigating the dissolving rate of packing peanuts.
Model UN
This week students from Year 11 Legal Studies participated in a Model United Nations at the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES).
Students debated the topic of sustainable cities, taking on the roles of delegates from multiple nations.
Youth Leadership Conference
Students from both our middle years and senior years leadership teams attended a Youth Leadership Conference in Melbourne. The focus was on building the skills and practices of successful leaders to be able to not only lead, but to encourage others to speak up and make change.
At the end of the day, the students were inspired and looking forward to the challenges and ideas moving into Term 2.
