On Harmony Day, we join schools and communities across Australia to celebrate the beautiful diversity that makes our nation so special. It is a day to remember that everyone belongs — no matter our culture, language, background or story. At St Paul Lutheran School, Harmony Day is not just a celebration for one day, but a reflection of who we are as a Christian community.
As a Lutheran school, we are reminded of the words from 1 Corinthians 12:12 — “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” God created each of us uniquely and wonderfully. When we come together, with all our differences, we form one body in Christ. This is the heart of Harmony Day.
The display in our main corridor of the school represents our diverse and vibrant community. We celebrate the many cultures and stories that make up our St Paul family. Each child is a precious gift from God and together we reflect his love in our school.
Our school value of Belonging is especially important on Harmony Day. Belonging means knowing that you are seen, valued and loved. It means having the confidence to be yourself, while also caring for others. At St Paul, we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where every child feels they are an important part of our community.
Join us this Friday as we celebrate Harmony Day at our school. Children and families are welcome to dress in orange or cultural dress. We look forward to Assembly, where the JVC and Year 3 Ludewig class will share the message of Harmony Day with the school community. Through their words and actions, they remind us that harmony begins with simple choices — choosing kindness, choosing understanding and choosing love.
As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9) and to love our neighbours as ourselves. When we live out these values each day, we build a community where harmony can truly grow.
May we continue to celebrate our differences, cherish our shared faith and live out our value of belonging — not only on Harmony Day, but every day at St Paul Lutheran School.
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1
