Swimming

Well done to our Team SVc Swim Captain and Year 11 Student-Athlete, Ewan McIlwraith.  It's been a huge year in the pool for Ewan, and everyone at St Virgil's College is very proud of his achievements.

Ewan's younger brother, Year 8 student-athlete Oliver McIlwraith, is also achieving great things in the pool, finishing 3rd in the HC Most Improved Senior Male.

Well done to the Mac brothers.

Soccer

A round of applause is due for Team sVc as we celebrate a remarkable SSATIS soccer season.

Late last term marked a season highlight: the Division 1 Finals Gala Day at Warrior Park. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Olympia F.C. Warriors for their generous use of the ground, which made this incredible event possible.

Team sVc made an unforgettable impression by competing in three out of the four finals. The atmosphere was electric as family, friends, and supporters gathered to witness the action unfold on the field. Here are the detailed results of the finals:

Year 7 Blue Division 1: In a dominant performance, sVc showcased their skill and determination as they claimed victory with a resounding score of 4-1 against St Als. The team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, with standout plays and strategic execution that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.

Year 8 Blue Division 1: The excitement continued as Team sVc squared off against Calvin. The players exhibited their relentless spirit and impressive coordination, leading to a thrilling 5-2 win. Each goal was a testament to their hard work, and the joy of victory was palpable among the supporters.

Year 9 Blue Division 1: In a contest that tested their resolve, sVc faced a strong opponent in Friends. Though they fought valiantly, the match concluded with a score of 0-2, serving as an important learning experience for the team. The players held their heads high, understanding that every challenge is an opportunity for growth.

Beyond the finals, our teams had commendable finishes throughout the year groups:

1st Grade: Finished their inaugural season in an impressive 3rd place, reflecting their consistent performance and teamwork throughout the season.

2nd Grade: Claimed 5th place, showcasing their commitment and resilience in every match they played.

Year 8 Gold Division 2: Secured a solid 3rd position, demonstrating their ability to collaborate effectively on the field.

Year 7 Gold Division 2: Wrapped up the season in 9th place, laying a strong foundation for development in the upcoming seasons.

We also want to express our deep appreciation to our remarkable SVC staff members who dedicated countless hours to coach and manage the teams. Their guidance, support, and mentorship have been instrumental in creating an environment where our student-athletes can thrive, both on and off the field.

With such passionate and committed leadership, the future of soccer at sVc is bright, and we look forward to witnessing even greater achievements in the seasons to come!
