Principal's Report

Reconciliation Week

As part of National Reconciliation Week, we proudly reflected on this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, which encourages all Australians to learn from the past, strengthen connections in the present, and work together towards a more respectful and inclusive future. National Reconciliation Week is a time to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements, while recognising the important role each of us plays in reconciliation.

A highlight of the week was welcoming back our students who attended the Coast to Country Camp. Throughout the experience, students had the opportunity to connect with Country, listen to First Nations stories, learn about culture, history and traditions, and develop a deeper appreciation for the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to land, sea and community. Through cultural activities, storytelling and shared experiences, students gained valuable insights that support empathy, respect and understanding. I am looking forward to catching up with the students this week over lunch to listen to their stories and experiences.

Semester Reporting

We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual.

The reports will be distributed on Friday 19th June.

The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments, effort, behaviour and values may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.

We will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at our next parent-teacher interviews scheduled for Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd June, or, as always, you can contact your child's teacher to arrange a meeting.

Foundation Enrolment

All Victorian government primary schools follow a statewide timeline for enrolling in Foundation (Prep) for the 2027 school year.

If you have a child starting primary school in 2027, it’s time to enrol. Make sure to submit your enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026

If you are enrolling the sibling of a student at our school for Foundation in 2027, and both children will be attending our school at the same time, your child is prioritised for a place at our school. It is important to submit your enrolment application to us on time as it will ensure your child is included in all transition activities if offered enrolment at our school. This also allows us to plan our classrooms, staffing and transition activities, and ensures your child has the best start to school.

For more information, please read about how to enrol your child in Foundation at vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep

If you would like to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027, please contact our school office on 52612360 or torquay.p6.co@education.vic.gov.au to book a school tour or request an application form. You can also book in for one of our schedule tours at https://compasstix.com/e/ht5jhpejln

Lunchtime Clubs

We are excited to be offering a range of lunchtime clubs again for Semester 2. Lunchtime clubs provide students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, build friendships across year levels, and strengthen their sense of belonging within our school community. Due to a number of students already being on waitlists from the beginning of the year, some clubs have limited places available. Current vacancies include Circus (24 spots) Enviro Club (4 spots), Choir (10 spots) Lego Club (30 spots), Library and Chess Club (30 spots), Run Club (60 spots) and Dance Club (16 spots). We encourage families to discuss these opportunities with their children and submit an expression of interest if they would like to participate. Places will be allocated until clubs reach capacity. Please note that not all students will be able to get their first preference. Our Wellbeing Room remains open for students to access during lunch times Monday to Friday.  You can sign you child up here: https://forms.gle/eErWYjnkonh34CLJ9

Bogan Bingo

A huge thank you to our incredible school community for supporting this year’s Bogan Bingo fundraiser. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, donated and /  purchased prizes and volunteered their time, we raised just over $4,000, which will go directly towards installing air conditioning in our four Year 6 classrooms. The evening was a fantastic success, filled with laughter, community spirit and plenty of memorable moments.

We are also excited to share that projects funded through last year’s fundraising efforts will begin over the coming months. This includes new line marking on our outdoor courts and the installation of custom-made soccer nets. These nets have been specifically designed for our school and will be a wonderful addition to our facilities. We ask all students to take pride in these new resources and help look after them so they can be enjoyed by our school community for many years to come.

As we head into another busy fortnight, we remind families that next Monday is the King's Birthday public holiday and students will not be required at school. We also wish both Lou and Foxy all the very best as they commence leave through until the end of term and look forward to welcoming them back next term.

Families are also invited to join us for Assembly this Friday, where we will celebrate student achievements, recognise learning successes and come together as a school community.

Kind Regards,

Amy Snow
