National Science and Engineering Challenge

Earlier this year, St Brigid's College Year 10 students participated in the National Science and Engineering Challenge, a nationwide STEM outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle and supported by our local Rotary clubs. The students achieved a massive score of 1467 out of a possible 1600 points, making us the overall winners for the day. The team has now been invited to attend the State Final Challenge day later this year.

Tom Gallagher of Horsham East Rotary presented Jett and Jorja, on behalf of the team, with the 'Champion School' shield at our assembly earlier this week.

Year 11 Street Retreat

recently, our Year 11 cohort spent three days in Melbourne for their Street Retreat. With a focus on social justice, students first visited The Big Issue Classroom and heard powerful first-hand stories from individuals who have experienced homelessness and disadvantage.

Other activities included visiting RMIT University, touring Newman College at the University of Melbourne, visiting the Magistrates and County Court, exploring Queen Victoria Market, and visiting the Melbourne Aquarium.

Students also took part in the City Orientation Scavenger Hunt, where they navigated public transport and worked together to find key Melbourne landmarks.

Congratulations Fiona!

Congratulations to our Deputy Principal, Fiona Combe, who was nominated for the Bishop Paul Spirit of Catholic Education Award in the category of Engagement and Belonging.

This nomination is a wonderful acknowledgment of Fiona’s dedication, passion, and commitment to our College community, truly embodying the spirit of Catholic education. St Brigid’s College is a richer community thanks to Fiona’s experience, wisdom, and care.

The awards were celebrated recently at the Catholic Education Week Dinner and Mass, held at Damascus College in Ballarat.
