Wellbeing at TPS

TPS Values Shout Outs
Our students have demonstrated our TPS Values beautifully this week:
- Respect — Last week's assembly was a real highlight, with students listening attentively and celebrating our award recipients with pride.
- Resilience — Congratulations to our Middle School students and teachers for their flexibility in setting up classrooms in alternative spaces. Their positive attitude has been outstanding, and the learning areas look wonderful.
- Friendship — The Down Ball Court has been full of inclusive lunchtime play, with students showing respect, taking turns and welcoming others into the game.
- Excellence — Senior School students have produced impressive Information Reports on Renaissance figures such as Michelangelo. The quality of research and presentation has been exceptional.
- Honesty — Well done to our Foundation and Junior students who are confidently seeking support from yard duty teachers when they need first aid or assistance.
SAFEMinds Tip Sheet – For Parents & Carers
Understanding changes in your child’s mood or behaviour can help you identify when they may need additional support.
SAFEMinds has created a helpful Notice Tip Sheet for families, outlining signs to look for and ways to begin conversations with teachers, school leadership or your local GP.
Building Confidence and Motivation in Primary School Children
Confidence develops through small, everyday experiences where children feel capable and supported. Families can help build confidence at home through simple, consistent practices:
- Focus on effort — Praise persistence and small improvements. Allow just enough challenge for resilience to grow.
- Use bite‑sized goals — Break tasks into manageable steps. Small wins help build momentum.
- Model positive self‑talk — Use phrases like “I can try a different way” and gently reframe negative talk.
- Encourage independence — Offer simple choices and responsibilities. Step back, but remain available for support.
- Create a safe space for mistakes — Keep feedback calm and specific. Mistakes help children feel brave enough to try.
- Notice strengths — Highlight kindness, creativity and problem‑solving, not just academic skills.
- Build predictable routines — Consistent mornings, homework spaces and bedtimes help children feel secure and ready to learn.
Upcoming Wellbeing Incursions
Safe Spaces – Bullying Prevention Program 9th of September
Senior Students will participate in the Safe Spaces Bullying Prevention incursion, delivered in partnership with Golden Plains Shire. This program supports students to understand what bullying is, recognise early warning signs, and respond safely and confidently. Through age‑appropriate activities, students learn strategies for seeking help, being an upstander, and building respectful peer relationships.
