Principal's News 

Dear Families, 

It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout at our Family Mass on Saturday evening. Thank you to all the students, families and staff who joined us for this special celebration. It was a beautiful opportunity to gather in faith and celebrate the strong connection between our school, parish and wider community. A special thank you to Lou Frewen who helped prepare for the Mass and supported our students to participate so beautifully. 

Catholic Mission Socktober Mass 

Last Friday our Year 6 students travelled to Shepparton for the Catholic Mission Socktober Mass and Launch, joining students from across the Sandhurst Diocese. Following Mass with Fr Jackson Saunders and Rev Brian Boyle, the students heard from Rachel Price from Catholic Mission about the challenges faced by communities in Malawi. They then worked with students from other schools to explore how they can raise awareness and support Socktober within their own communities. We were very proud of the way our students represented St John’s and embraced the message that small actions can make a big difference as we work together towards a more just and compassionate world. 

Visit to Granite Hill

Our Year 1 students enjoyed a special visit to Granite Hill last week, connecting with members of our local community through conversation and shared experiences. These visits reflect our Catholic mission of reaching out to others with kindness and recognising the dignity of every person. We look forward to visiting regularly throughout the remainder of the year.

Athletics Day 

What a wonderful Athletics Day we enjoyed last week! After plenty of uncertainty around the weather, it was fantastic to see our students participating enthusiastically, encouraging one another and showing such wonderful House spirit. A special thank you to Mr Linc McKernan for the enormous amount of organisation and preparation that went into the day, as well as our staff and volunteers for helping everything run so smoothly. Thank you also to the many families who came along to cheer on our students and contribute to such a positive community atmosphere. 

Father’s Day at St John’s 

Father’s Day is coming up this week and we are looking forward to welcoming father figures and other special people to our Father’s Day Breakfast on Thursday 3rd September from 7am. Everyone is welcome! There is no cost to attend and we hope plenty of families can join us for what is always a great morning at St John’s. Our Parents Group will also run the Father’s Day Stall on Friday 4th September from 9am-11am in the Mercy Centre. Gifts will be available for $10, so a reminder to all students to bring $10 for Friday this week!

Celebrating Marc’s New Book

We are very fortunate to have our wonderful Crossing Supervisor Marc helping our students and families safely cross the road each day. Marc has recently written a new book "History of Euroa Cemetery 1856–2026" which explores an important part of our local community’s history. Congratulations Marc on this wonderful achievement!

Catholic Education Sandhurst Survey 

Some families may have already received information about the 2026 Catholic Education Sandhurst Survey. Feedback from our community helps us understand what we are doing well and importantly, where we can continue to grow and improve. I really value open and constructive communication between school and home and this survey is another important opportunity for families to have their say and contribute to the future direction of St John’s. 

Completing the survey is easy:

SunSmart “HATS” Reminder 

With the days becoming longer, the weather beginning to warm up and UV levels increasing, our SunSmart expectations are now in place. All students are required to wear their school hat during outdoor play with our “No Hat, No Play” expectation in place! 

As we move into the final weeks of Term 3, there is still plenty to look forward to across our school, a reminder that students will finish early at 2:15pm on the final day of term - Friday 18th September. We hope to see you on Thursday for our Father’s Day Breakfast!
