We are thrilled to share our outstanding NAPLAN results! Our students have demonstrated exceptional dedication, growth, and academic achievement, with a vast majority scoring in the top proficiency tiers (Strong and Exceeding).

Key Highlights & Successes

• OLA exceeded both State and National benchmarks in 9 out of 10 assessed areas across Year 3 and Year 5.
• An extraordinary 96% of our Year 3 cohort achieved in the Strong or Exceeding bands for Writing! 
• Year 5 delivered exceptional results with an impressive 82% of students excelling in the top bands across Reading, Writing, and Numeracy! 
• Across both Year 3 and Year 5, over 80% of students placed in the highest performance categories in Reading, Writing, and Numeracy.

Have Your Say – MACSSIS Family Survey

We are inviting all families to complete the 2026 Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Survey (MACSSIS) from Monday 31 August to Friday 18 September.

MACSSIS gives our students, families and staff an opportunity to share their experiences and provide valuable feedback about our school. Your feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and identify areas where we can continue to improve.

The survey is online, confidential and voluntary and can be completed at a time that suits you using the link and password provided via email.

We strongly encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your voice matters, and your feedback helps shape the future direction of our school.

Celebration of learning 

3/4CD have been loving spending time reading in our cosy corner, enjoying sharing stories and reading aloud to their friends. We also had fun exploring acute, obtuse and right angles out in the sunshine—it’s amazing what you can discover when you take the time to look closely! We love making learning fun in 3/4CD, and what better way to practise our multiplication skills than with a fun and engaging multiplication board game?

Book Week 2026

Wow! What an amazing Book Week we had at OLA!

We kicked off our celebrations with our annual Book Week Parade, where students dressed as their favourite book characters. From Little Miss characters and Smurfs to Minions and Kristy from The Baby Sitters Club, we saw a wonderful mix of characters, genres and stories. It was fantastic to see everyone dancing, laughing and celebrating their love of books.

We enjoyed Buddy Reading with different classes, sharing favourite books across year levels, and our OLA Spelling Bee, where students showed persistence and determination as they tackled tricky words. The results will be announced at next week’s assembly.

Our Genre Picnic brought the whole school together to enjoy books in the sunshine before we finished Book Week with a visit from the wonderful Nat Amoore. Nat entertained us with her stories, shared how she gets her ideas and gave us a glimpse into the life of an author. We even dressed up as some of her characters!

Immigration Excursion 

Our Grade 5/6 students recently visited the Immigration Museum as part of their ongoing Inquiry unit on immigration, exploring personal stories and historical artifacts that brought Australia’s rich migrant history to life. The hands on excursion deepened their understanding of empathy and cultural identity, sparking meaningful reflection and discussion back in the classroom

Excellence at OLA

We celebrate achievements at OLA every day in the classroom. Outstanding achievement is celebrated at every assembly in the front of the school. Congratulations to all the students who received an award last week.
