Our Year 7 Scientists have been practising for their Bunsen Burner Competency Test. They are super excited to be going for their Bunsen Burner Licence this term. Last week they worked together to test each other in preparation. All the best for the Year 7s.
The Year 10 students are in their second unit of Chemistry studying different types of chemical reactions. Here they are investigating the synthesis of iron oxide - aka rusting of iron nails in different environments.

River Detectives Program
During Terms 2, 3, and 4, Year 7 students will participate in the River Detectives Program. As part of this program, students will monitor the water quality of the Richardson River and develop their understanding of environmental science.
Recently, Nicole from North Central CMA visited the school to introduce the program and explain how scientists assess water quality using various indicators.
Students discovered that the river’s water quality is generally excellent, with the exception of higher salinity levels.

Year 8 Pattern Artworks
Throughout Term 1 the Year 8 Art class have been exploring the art principle of Pattern. They have made a whopping 6 artworks just this term, from stickers, to foam printmaking, to Andy Warhol inspired cans and their latest works, a fairly new art style called ‘Neurographic Art’. This art style encourages the creator to work freely, without fear of making mistakes and just put pen and paint to canvas. The Year 8s in turn created some highly effective abstract watercolour paintings, which you can see below.
