Assembly - Monday 13 April

Our final Primary School Assembly for Term 1 will take place on Monday 13 April in The Farrall Centre and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome members of our community to attend. Please remember that due to privacy concerns and to respect the photo permission choices of other families we ask you to refrain from taking photos and videos during assemblies.

Fabric Donations for the Art Room

We would welcome donations of spare fabric for projects in our Art Room. If you have any extra fabric you are happy to share it would be appreciated. Please drop donations to the Primary School Office. Thank you.

Year 6 Canberra Trip - Parent Information Evening - Wednesday 8 April

There will be an information evening about the Year 6 Canberra Trip for parents on Wednesday 8 April from 5.15 - 6.00pm in the Year 6 classrooms. 

Year 5 Outdoor Education Excursions - kunanyi/Mt Wellington - 9, 10 and 16 April

In the coming weeksm Year 5 students will be going in class groups on an Outdoor Education bushwalk on kunanyi/Mt Wellington. The focus for the day is building resilience, working together as a team, exploring the varied ecosystems and learning about the Aboriginal history of the location. We will also do simple bushcraft skills such as map reading and navigation. The walk will start at The Springs and finish at The Springs via the Octopus Tree, Sphinx Rock, the Sawmill and Organ Pipes Track. This is approximately 5km with some steep ascending tracks. 

 

Students will be required to wear warm sensible free dress clothing that is appropriate to the cold weather that can occur on the mountain - long pants (no jeans), long sleeve tshirt/thermal shirt, jumper, warm socks and appropriate sturdy shoes for bushwalking. Students will also need to pack their day bag with a rain jacket, spare warm jacket/fleece, beanie, and gloves, spare socks, plenty of food for lunch and snacks, a big drink bottle of water, and any personal medication. The students will leave school at 9.00am and return at 3.00pm. Each class will be attending on separate days: Year 5B - Thursday 9 April, Year 5C - Friday 10 April and Year 5S - Thursday 16 April.

Year 6 Excursion - Tour of Government House and Picnic - Friday 10 April

Year 6 students will be heading off for an exciting day of governance, history and fresh air on Friday 10 April. The day will include a guided tour of the prestigious Government House, hosted by The Honourable Her Excellency Barbara Baker AC, followed by lunch and play at Legacy Park. Due to the size of our cohort, we will be travelling in two separate groups. 

 

Group 1: 6M and students in 6N with surnames starting with letters A to M

  • Departs 9.30am, arrive back at 1.30pm 

Group 2: 6H and students in 6N with surnames starting with letters N to Z

  • Departs 11.30am, arrives back at 2.45pm 

 

Quick Reminders

  • Uniform: Sports uniform including hat
  • Food: Please pack a waste-free lunch and a drink bottle (we will all be picnicking together at Legacy Park). No lunch orders
  • Sun Safety: Don't forget to pack a hat and apply sunscreen before school

Year 1 Outdoor Education Excursions - Knocklofty Reserve - Thursday 16 April

On Thursday 16 April, Year 1 will be embarking on a bush day to Knocklofty Reserve. Class teachers, learning assistants and Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education teacher, will accompany the students on the excursion. The aim of the day is to explore the local bushlands while developing relationships with peers. Students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform and sturdy shoes to walk in. They are also to bring a backpack with morning tea and lunch, rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper and their school hat. Please update student Paperly profiles if necessary, and no lunch orders on this day.

Chamber Music Concert

Join us for an evening of collaborative music-making at The Friends’ School Chamber Music Concert on Tuesday 14 April. This 90-minute showcase highlights the dedication of our musicians from Years 5 to 12 performing in a range of small ensembles. From classical trios to contemporary quartets, the program features a rich mix of genres. Please come along to support our creative music students as they take to the stage and share their music with us all.

 

This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
