News from PE- Ms. Laura Hicks.

We have had a great start to PE this year. Grade 3-6 students have spent some time learning volleyball skills. They have been playing modified games to help improve these skills. F-2 students have been working in activity rotations with a focus on sharing equipment and working with different partners.

Division Swimming

A big congratulations to Hazel and Artie who both competed in the Division Swimming Carnival last week. Hazel has qualified for the Region Swimming Carnival in Swan Hill. Well done Hazel and Artie!

We have a few events coming up in PE and some dates for everyone to remember below.

Whole School Athletics Day

On Tuesday April 21st (Term 2, Week 1) we have our whole school athletics day at the Bendigo Lar Birpa Athletics Track. Our whole school will travel to the track where our Grade 3-6 students will compete in traditional athletic events. Our F-2 students will compete in fun style games including jumping sack races and egg and spoon races.

We are always after parent helpers for this day to run smoothly. If you are able to assist please email- laura.hicks@education.vic.gov.au

After competing in the school athletics day, selected students from ages 10-13 will compete in the district athletics day on Thursday May 7th.

Jets Gymnastics

In May, all students will complete Jets Gymnastics sessions. Students will travel to Jets Gymnastics where they will complete 4 x 1 hour sessions. These sessions will take place on Mondays in May (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th May).

Shoes for PE

Please make sure students are in appropriate shoes for PE on their selected PE days. As we are always running, jumping and moving in PE, having the appropraite shoes is essential.

Tuesdays - 2/3Q, 3/4S, Foundation, Grade 1

Wednesdays- 5/6K, 5/6C, 4/5MB, Grade 2

Sentral

Please remember, all permission notes and information for any PE events will be on Sentral. Please make sure you are checking regularly so your child has permission to attend events.
