Principal Message
Thank You - Our classrooms continue to be places of curiosity, creativity and challenge, with students demonstrating resilience, enthusiasm and a willingness to give things a go. We are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to support one another and demonstrate the values that make our school community such a special place. There has been so much happening beyond the classroom, with students and staff embracing a range of activities, events and learning experiences. These opportunities play an important role in developing confident, capable and well-rounded young people.
Grounds - We welcome our community to enjoy our school grounds over the holidays. A great deal of hard work has gone into creating and maintaining our school environment and facilities, and we hope our community can enjoy these spaces. We ask everyone to help us look after our school and to remain vigilant. If you see anything concerning or suspicious on the school grounds, please contact The Police on 000 or 5256 2698.
Jake Roberts - A special thank you to Jake for stepping into the Inclusion and Wellbeing role while Andy and Ryan have been on long service leave. Jake’s flexibility, commitment and support of our students and staff have been greatly appreciated.
Deb Rodgers – Deb has done an amazing job in 2JR whilst Jake stepped into his Term 3 role. A very big thank you to Deb. No doubt we will see her around OGPS next term.
Hugh Whitehead - We would also like to thank Hugh, who has been with us throughout the term, generously supporting the school across a variety of positions. We are very grateful for his contribution and the positive impact he has made across our school community.
The Great Debate – It was a real treat to pop into the Year 6 Great Debate on Tuesday. Both the affirmative group and the negative group were able to put forward exemplary statements and arguments to support a range of educational issues.
Inquiry Cycles – I felt immense pride at our staff meeting Monday after school, as each team presented their termly inquiry cycle to the entire staff. Every term our teaching teams work through an inquiry cycle where they dive into data sets and areas of opportunity, and then undertake an inquiry cycle. I was inspired by the breadth and depth of the staff presentations, covering the topics of numeracy development, phonics, fluency, classroom management and cyber safety. The staff’s willingness to continually improve demonstrates the strength of our teams. Well done staff!
A digger at OGPS – A big thank you to Emilia and her Dad Jamie, who brought his digger along to school. Asbury Street was full of fun and activity on Tuesday, as the Foundation students engaged in all the action. Thanks Jamie.
SunSmart - As we head into next term, a reminder that the beginning of our SunSmart period is approaching. Please ensure that students have their school hat ready to wear each day.
Friday – Don’t forget footy colours day, hot dogs and the disco. A fun day ahead with a 2:30pm dismissal.
Staffing - Finally, it gives me great pleasure to announce our 2027 Prep teachers. We look forward to Mat Hebbard, Rebecca Bradbury, Jess Chadwick and Megan Lowery sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm and care, that they will bring to our youngest learners and their families.
As we reach the end of another term, I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Take the time to slow down if you can, recharge and enjoy those special moments with your loved ones. Thank you for another wonderful term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monay 5th October, refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and connection.
