Visual Arts

Jack is back!

Gallery Image

Last week Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts class was visited by former St Pius X student Jack Moran (Class of 2018). Jack is a skilled photographer and well-known name in the local music scene, shooting album covers and gigs for a variety of Sydney bands, as well as hosting his own galleries and events. Jack gave an insightful talk on how he got to this point in his career. The class took away some valuable advice on how we can progress our own creative careers, specifically reaching out and building connections as well as creating opportunities for ourselves.

Da Vinci Club

It’s back! Da Vinci Club is open to all students in Years 5–10 who enjoy tackling challenging, abstract problems and working with other like-minded students.

Join us in C4 every Thursday morning from 7:30 am, commencing this week.

Areas explored throughout the year include:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Engineering

  • Poetry and Visual Arts

  • Cartography

  • Ideation

  • Drama

  • Code Breaking

  • General Knowledge

Each fortnight, the club focuses on a different area of the da Vinci program. Working in small groups, students collaborate to solve problems, answer questions, create, write, design, construct and illustrate.

New members are always welcome. Students who have not previously participated in da Vinci Club are encouraged to come along and give it a try. Our 2027 Learning Prefects will also be on hand to support and mentor younger students.

There is no cost to participate.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

We are excited to introduce a new initiative at the college: English Drop-In. This initiative provides an opportunity for students seek support from English staff, get feedback, and refine their work. With end-of-year English examinations coming up, this is a valuable chance for students to work on areas for improvement, build confidence, and further develop their English skills. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

When? Wednesday mornings from 7:45 am – 8:30 a.m.

Where? C1

Maths Drop-In

With exams just around the corner, now is the perfect time to make the most of this valuable opportunity. Maths Drop-In provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students can ask questions, clarify challenging concepts, revise key skills and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Whether you need help with a particular topic, want to work through practice questions or simply need a space to consolidate your learning, Maths Drop-In is the place to be!

Come along, bring a friend and challenge yourself to do better, be better and achieve your best! Every question you ask and every problem you attempt is another step towards success. Don't leave it until the last minute - take advantage of the support available and make this term count!

Maths Drop-In: Tuesday & Thursday in C1 7:40 am - 8:30 am
