Specialist Subjects

OASIS

In OASIS, students will explore the basic needs of plants, animals and humans, including food, water, air and shelter. We will learn through our school garden by caring for the plants and animals at our school. Students will continue to look after the garden by completing a range of hands-on gardening jobs and learning how to care for living things and their environment.

Art – Lauren Nankervis

Students will make artworks using different techniques to express their observations and imagination. They will describe artworks they make and view, including where artworks are made. They will focus on various techniques when creating 3D artworks.

Science-Jess Widdicombe

Push and pull will be the focus for term 4. We’ll explore the strength and direction of forces and where forces are in our everyday lives. To end the unit, the students will undertake a paper airplane design challenge.

Music – Stacie Mason

Students will practice reading and writing music on the stave – the five lines and four spaces music is written on. They will learn to place a new note – ‘lah’ – as well as using notes they already know – ‘so’ and ‘mi’. Using new and old songs, students will read, create, sing, move and play instruments to explore written music. Songs will include ‘Bounce High, Bounce Low’ and ‘Icka Backa’.

Indonesian – Bu Jaqui

Students will be building on the work done last term around animals by learning Besar and Kecil (big and small) to describe people and animals. Students will participate in group reading, games, activity sheets and use gestures to learn and practice this new vocabulary.

PE – Luke Freeman & Class Teachers

Students will prepare for their Mini Athletics Morning and participate in swimming lessons, focusing on water safety and stroke efficiency. During PE lessons, they will continue to develop their fundamental movement skills, including running, jumping, leaping, throwing, catching, and ball bouncing.

The term will conclude with cooperative games that build spatial awareness, promote safe and fair play, and strengthen students’ ability to work collaboratively.
