We will continue the concepts taught in InitiaLit. This term we will focus on:  

Phonics

We will look at the sounds /ce/, /ci/, /cy/, /ge/, /gi/, /gy/, /_dge/, /_ge/, /_tch/, /_ch/, Prefix ‘un’ and multisyllable words. We will apply these sounds to the children’s reading and spelling. 

Vocabulary

We will continue to read high quality texts to strengthen students’ comprehension and expand their vocabulary.   

Writing

Students will develop their skills in writing stories, persuasive texts and informative texts while building more detailed and organised sentences. They will continue to plan, write and edit work across a range of writing tasks.   

Home Reading

Please continue listening to your child read at home at least four nights each week. We have also sent home a Term 4 Sounds & Words book to support practice with the sounds currently being taught in class, helping to consolidate their learning.
