Project Compassion
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. The theme for this year’s appeal is Unite Against Poverty.
During Lent our RE Year 5/6 Student Leadership Team will be selling Zooper Dooper icy poles for 50c after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 3:30pm at the tuckshop window. All money raised will be donated to Project Compassion. If anybody would like to donate a pack (or more) of Zooper Doopers please bring them to the office. We can look after the freezing for you‼
Please note, with the 5/6 students in Canberra we won't be selling Zooper Doopers in Week 6 (Tues 3/3 & Thurs 5/3).

RE Learning in 2/3CP
In the past few weeks we have been learning about the Catholic Social Teaching of Caring for Our Common Home. We are Earth’s Caretakers and experience God’s love in the world around us. By caring for nature, we care for each other and show love. Everyone can help protect our common home. Let us be kind to the Earth.
Genesis 2:15 - The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it.
We investigated the meaning of this phrase: God put people in the world to be His helpers, asking us to lovingly care for the Earth and help all living things grow (people, animals, plants). It shows us that working together with God to protect our beautiful world is a special way to show Him our love.

Sunday Gospel
The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone. There in their presence he was transfigured; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became as white as the light. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him. Then Peter spoke to Jesus. ‘Lord,’ he said ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ He was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and from the cloud there came a voice which said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.’ When they heard this, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear. But Jesus came up and touched them. ‘Stand up,’ he said ‘do not be afraid.’ And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but only Jesus.
As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order. ‘Tell no one about the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.’
Discussion Questions
1. What are your favourite quiet places?
2. What sort of things do you like to do in your quiet place?
3. Quiet places can be very good for praying. Take a moment to think of when you can go to your quiet place this week. What or who can you pray for?
