Meka Karate Sessions in P.E

On Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April we welcomed Sensei James Giuliano, founder of Meka Karate, Mulgrave, to introduce karate to all students from Foundation through to Year 6, during P.E classes.

The students were introduced to a few basic karate moves and technique through a range of interactive partner activities and games.

At the end of each session, James selected one student from each class for demonstrating fantastic FOCUS and EFFORT throughout the session. The selected student will receive a ‘Student Recognition Certificate’ at our next assembly in week 4.

As an ‘extra special surprise’, Sensei James kindly donated a framed, hand signed photo of the original karate kid himself, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Ralph also starred in the more recent ‘Cobra Kai’ series on Netflix as the father. The students selected from each class for the class award went into a ‘hat’, with the final winner, Heeya. P from 1/2P, the lucky winner of the framed, signed autograph.

At the end of the class sessions, all students were provided with a flyer for Meka Karate, with a special available to 10 students from Albany Rise Primary, if considering joining.
