Class Sharing

A regular feature of our assemblies from now on will be class sharing.  Each assembly will feature a class sharing with our school what they have been doing in class.  It was great to see the Sizzling Starts that 3/4R have been doing in their writing pieces. We will also have a section in the newsletter featuring a class.  Please check further along in this newsletter for this week’s featured class.

Mother’s/Special Person’s Day Stall

Last Tuesday, our students took delight in purchasing a variety of lovely gifts for their mothers or special people in their life, in preparation for Mother’s Day this Sunday.  Thanks go to Christina, who co-ordinated her first school event, Ann who provided assistance and support, and to Jade, Aleisha, Navneet, Brendan and Misty assisted the children to purchase their gifts on the day. Thanks also to Collette in the office for her help in acquiring items for sale.

Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 22nd May

Exercising is important for your health.  Not exercising can lead to bad health.  That is why the 22nd May is a special day, where you can get a temporary ink picture only if you walk to school. If you want, you can walk to school with your child halfway between your home and school, or a few blocks away from the school.  It is also a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.

Remember, active kids are healthy kids, so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day.  Save the date!!  For more information, visit www.walk.com.au

Outside of School: sport or other activity - Achievement of the Week

We know how important physical activity and sport is for our students and to our school community, which is why we privilege time at school for PE and sport. We also know that we have some very talented students who participate in sports and activities outside of school.  We would love to celebrate their achievements! If your child has received an award or progressed to the next level of their activity outside of school (be it sporting or otherwise) , please let us know and we would love to celebrate their achievements in our newsletter. Please contact Mr Mottershead with information and a photo, or email through to our school office on Albany.rise.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Birthday Free Dress

We know that every single day at school is important for learning and connection. Of course, we want to celebrate with our students when they have a birthday! Late last year, we introduced the practice of students coming to school in free dress on their birthday.  This seems to be working very well and will be continuing this year. Students are looking forward to being at school on their birthday, and also, it is easy to spot who has a birthday to make sure they have a great day!

Thank you!
