As we approach the end of a very busy and exciting year, it’s incredible to reflect on how far the K/1 students have come. From those early weeks of settling in to the confident, enthusiastic learners they are now, they have grown so much—not just academically, but also socially and emotionally.

Literacy and numeracy

In literacy, K/1 have been working on blending and segmenting consonant-vowel-consonant-consonant (CVCC) words like "milk" and "best." These foundational skills are helping them become more fluent readers and confident writers.

In numeracy, we’ve been exploring patterns and sharing equally. These activities have allowed students to further understand these important mathematical concepts, such as grouping and fairness, in fun and interactive ways.

Arts and Craft

The students have thoroughly enjoyed free-play sessions with a variety of materials, which has allowed their creativity to shine. The thought and care put into their creations has been wonderful to see.

Recently, Faith, our Aboriginal Education Officer, began working with K/1 on Aboriginal art projects. The children are not only creating beautiful artworks but are also gaining a deeper understanding of the connection between art and culture, which they are thoroughly enjoying.

Gralee Fun Run

One of the highlights of the term was the Gralee Colour Run. Kindergarten were partnered with Year Six students to take part in this event. The students had a blast playing with sensory materials and running through clouds of colour and foam. It was a day filled with laughter and unforgettable memories.

This year has been an incredible journey of growth and adventure. From achieving academic milestones to building friendships and exploring new experiences, the K/1 students should be proud of their progress. As we approach the final weeks, we want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement throughout this year.
