Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Congratulations, SMCM!

What an incredible team effort from our entire school community over the past six weeks! Thanks to your dedication in collecting and uploading receipts, we proudly secured 1st place in the Pacific Epping Shop For Your Schools competition, winning an amazing $25,000!

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for the prize presentation last Thursday. Despite a little hiccup with the announcement, we got there in the end! Your support and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.

As promised, I have placed the order for our new soccer pitch, with installation expected in August, ready for Term 4. This is a wonderful achievement for our school community and we cannot wait for our students to enjoy this exciting new space!

Semester One Reports

Congratulations to all of our students on a wonderful semester of learning, growth and achievement. We are proud of the progress they have made and the effort they have shown throughout the semester.

Last Friday your child's Semester One Report was  published on Compass. These reports, together with your child’s learning on Seesaw and the recent Learning Conversations, offer an insight into your child’s progress.

To view your child's report, please log in to Compass, click on your child's photo and select the Reports tab in the top right-hand corner. From there, choose the Semester One Report to view and download the report.

We encourage families to reach out to their child’s homegroup teacher to discuss learning at any time throughout the year.

Tomorrow we will celebrate the Socceroos and the FIFA World Cup! Students are invited to wear their favourite team colours or green and gold to show their support for the Socceroos.

The World Cup is a wonderful celebration of unity, bringing together 48 nations and players from diverse cultures and backgrounds across the globe.

Our own Socceroos are a fantastic representation of multicultural Australia, demonstrating how people from different backgrounds can come together with a shared goal and team spirit.

Throughout the day, students will watch Australia take on Paraguay and explore the qualities of being a great teammate, including teamwork, respect, resilience and perseverance. We look forward to a fun day of learning and celebrating the world game together!

Tomorrow we farewell Rafael Fernandez and Brian Chung from our staff.

Congratulations to Raf, who has accepted the position of Deputy Principal at St Mary's in Greensborough commencing in Term 3.  Raf has made a significant contribution to SMCM through his leadership of Learning and Teaching and Digital Technologies over the past two and a half years. His commitment to improving student outcomes, supporting staff and driving school improvement initiatives has been greatly appreciated.  We wish him every success in his new role at St Mary’s and for the future in Catholic Education.

It is with sadness that Brian has made the decision to leave SMCM at the end of this term due to personal reasons. We thank Brian for being such a positive and valued member of our school community. In the short time he has been with us, Brian has built strong relationships with students and staff and contributed to the welcoming and supportive culture of SMCM. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this next chapter!

In Term 3 we will welcome back Chrissy Tsiperas and Alexandra Verzin from Parental leave. Chrissy will be joining the Dalton Homegroup on Wednesday and Thursday and Alexandra will be joining the Curious Homegroup on Tuesdays.
