Aboriginal Education

Lyambay Dancers
Earlier this term our Lyambay dancers performed at the Armidale Creative Street Festival. The dancers performed two of their own choreographed dances ‘Home’ and ‘United’. They did an amazing job and it was deadly to see everyone appreciate all the hard work and passion our dancers put into their performances.
This term our dancers have also been working hard to get ready for this year's school spectacular. To prepare our dancers have been working extremely hard at multiple rehearsals each week to perfect their routines. Last week our 4 dancers who are a part of the Aboriginal Dance Company travelled to Sydney for a week long rehearsal. In week 7 all of our dancers will go to Sydney for another week of rehearsals before they perform in Qudos Arena on the 28th and 29th of November. We are so proud of their commitment and cannot wait to see them deliver a truly reMARKable performance.
Oorala Experience Camp
This term some of our year 9 students got the chance to attend the Oorala Experience Program. The program ran for a week where our students got to go out to the University of New England and get a taste of life at uni. Our students got the chance to participate in a range of mini classes in everything from sport science, psychology, chemistry, nutrition and lots more! The program was a great experience for our kids to meet new people, find what their passions might be, get to know the Oorala team and find out what university is all about.
2026 Leadership Team
Congratulations to Nya Quinlan (Sports Captain) and Malaki Mcleod (Support Unit Captain) who have been named as members of our schools 2026 leadership team! Both Nya and Malaki will bring their kindness, hard work and drive will help to support, uplift and encourage everyone within the school community. We are incredibly proud of both of you and look forward to seeing the amazing things you will achieve in your respective roles. Here’s to a successful and exciting year ahead!
Transition Day
This term we have had the pleasure of meeting some of our incoming Year 7 students for next year! It was a fantastic day and we can't wait to welcome you all into our school community in 2026!
Creative Streets Festival
At the Creative Streets Festival, the Lyambay Dance Group from Armidale Secondary College mesmerised the crowd with two powerful performances – “Home” and “United.”
