Armidale Secondary College Regional Performing Arts Highlights!
This year, our talented students have truly shone on the regional stage!
Dance Showcase
We proudly took 18 dancers to join with other students from across the region in four mass dance items. Our Year 7 and 8 dancers teamed up with 50 others to perform two stunning pieces choreographed by Ms Cordingley. Meanwhile, our Year 9 and 10 dancers collaborated with a choreographer from Inverell High School, presenting two contrasting and captivating dance works. Since Term 2, our dancers have worked tirelessly—filming choreography for schools and attending rehearsals at school, Inverell, and Tamworth. It was an incredible opportunity to perform in such a wonderful regional showcase. Extra congratulations to our regional ensemble dancers and featured performers for mastering a large amount of choreography and delivering breathtaking performances.
CAPERS 2025 – Tapestry
Four of our outstanding vocalists—Alma Kanety, Jeanne Perrin, Nahri Slater-Saunders, and Helene Groger—joined with students from the region to present the creative and brilliant show CAPERS at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. A large-scale variety show, reminiscent of Schools Spectacular, CAPERS saw our students sing, dance, and play through an exciting mix of classic and contemporary songs that captivated and inspired the audience. They were joined on stage by featured dancers Matilda Wise and Rose McDonagh, alongside Regional Dance Ensemble members Alexis Lownds, Ayalla Kanety, Rebecca Billingsley, Isabelle Dell, Steph Everett, Helene Groger, and the Armidale Secondary College dance troop.
CAPERS is a fantastic training and performance opportunity for students who love the bright lights and high energy of the performing arts! Huge congratulations to all our ASC students involved in this fabulous event.
Enjoy some snapshots from the dress rehearsal that capture the magic of the performances!
WEX Canberra
Year 12 SBAT student, Nahri Slater-Saunders, was selected as one of 45 First Nations students across all of Australia to attend the Work Exposure in Government (WEX) program in Canberra this term. She spent one week in Canberra visiting Parliament House, attending cultural tours and career expos, all while being mentored by previous WEX participants now working in various roles across the Australian Government, including the National Indigenous Australians Agency. According to Nahri the networking was incredible and has opened her eyes to all the careers available in public service – “I did not know you could be a marine biologist and work in Government!” Nahri said highlights included being selected to lay the wreath upon the Tomb of the Unknown Solder at the Australian War Memorial, visiting parliament house and meeting Lidia Thorpe, work exposure opportunities with the Australian Federal Police and the cultural tour to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. ASC is very proud of you Nahri, you represented the school and your community with pride.
