Principal's Report

Welcome to Week 7 of Term 3, isn’t this term flying by! The concert was over a fortnight ago now, and since we have celebrated all of Book Week, Science Week and the national ‘Bullying, No Way!’ Week, as part of our Respectful Relationships program. Whilst our core learning in Literacy and Numeracy is at the forefront of the curriculum, it is not at the cost of other critical learning and wellbeing areas, and this contributes to the well-rounded students we have at our school. 

The involvement and engagement of our families is also critical in positively impacting student learning and wellbeing. Last weekend, our Parents’ Association hosted the annual parent event for the year, this year themed as a ‘heroes and villains’ trivia night. Today we hosted our termly ‘cakes for a cause’ event, with all proceeds going towards our ‘build the inside’ initiative for our gymnasium, whilst we will also host the annual Father’s Day Breakfast next Friday morning. A huge thank you to our PA President, Melinda Reid, for leading the way for our community in this area. We couldn’t do all of this without her! 

As we look to continue to improve our school, we do, like all Victorian Government Schools, invite you to participate in the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey. This is open online until the end of this term and can be accessed at https://research.orima.com/parent. Simply use the school and campus name Caulfield South Primary School and school PIN 502613 to complete the survey. We highly value your feedback and thank you in advance for taking the time to do this. 

Our assemblies are a highlight for me each week, and the past one particularly stands out as an important one. Mr. Sweeney and his Prep class first presented some great mathematical learning and then performed a song they had learnt during a cyber-safety lesson. As a school, we are committed to building critical online thinking skills and our membership with the Cyber-Safety Project team is an important part of this. The song that Mr. Sweeney’s class sang referenced the importance of stopping, thinking of how an online environment is making you feel, and then talking to an adult if you are not feeling comfortable online. The song was a great way to consider some quite sophisticated online concepts and I’m re-assured knowing that all our students are learning these critical skills from their first year of schooling onwards. 

Planning for 2027 is well underway, with workforce planning and budgeting particularly important at this time of the year. Of great benefit to this process is having as much clarity on future enrolment as possible. Noting that, please consider the following:

• If you have received an offer of Prep enrolment, please accept it via the online portal as soon as possible. 
• If your child/ren are not returning in 2027, please contact us via email here. 

For families that you may know who are moving into the area, we continue to run school tours on a weekly basis. Attendance at these can be booked online via our school website.
