Generations In Jazz
Macleod College shines at Generations in Jazz 2025
Over the first weekend of May, students from Macleod College’s Performing Arts Department had the unforgettable opportunity to attend Generations in Jazz 2025, held in Mount Gambier, South Australia. This prestigious national event brought together thousands of young musicians from across the country to celebrate jazz, teamwork, and musical excellence.
Our talented students represented Macleod College in both vocal and instrumental ensembles, immersing themselves in workshops, performances, and competitions alongside Australia’s best-emerging jazz talent. One of which was Tony Yang a Macleod alumnus, who competed in the prestigious ‘Finalist’ competition. The festival atmosphere was electric, with inspiring performances from professional artists and adjudicators such as Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band.
Highlights of the trip included:
- Performing for and receiving feedback from top-tier jazz educators
- Watching live performances by world-renowned jazz musicians
- Building friendships and musical connections with students from other schools
- Experiencing the thrill of performing in a national-level jazz ensemble setting
Our students demonstrated outstanding dedication, professionalism, and passion for music throughout the weekend, making Macleod College proud. A huge thank you to our music staff and parent volunteers for making this experience possible.
SongMakers
