Education Week

As part of our Education Week celebrations, we are excited to invite our Wonga Park families to join us for an Open Afternoon on Thursday 21st May from 2:45pm.

Classrooms will be open for families to explore, with students engaged in learning activities and specialist sessions across the school. Families are warmly encouraged to join in with a range of classroom activities alongside their children, making it a wonderful opportunity to experience the learning, creativity and connections that make Wonga Park such a special place to learn and grow.

We would also love your support in spreading the word throughout our community. If you know of any prospective families who may be interested in experiencing Wonga Park Primary School and are yet to complete a school tour, we warmly encourage you to share this wonderful opportunity for a student-led tour during the afternoon with them.

Policy Update

Yard Duty and Supervision Policy update

Our Yard Duty and Supervision Policy has been updated. You can view the policy on our website via this link. The purpose of the policy is to ensure school staff understand their supervision and yard duty responsibilities.

Before and After School Supervision

Our grounds are supervised by school staff from 8.40am until 3.40pm. Outside of these hours, school staff will not be available to supervise students.

Areas supervised before and after school: Dudley Road Gate, Top Playground, Gate on Lantana Avenue. There will also be a teacher roaming in Zones 1&2 (please see area listed below). Students are not to be on the Reserve or Oval before or after school unless supervised by a parent/carer.

Parents and carers will be advised through the Wonga Weekly that they should not allow their children to attend Wonga Park Primary School outside of these hours. Families will be encouraged to contact Their Care on 0439 002 337 for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.

If a student arrives at school before supervision commences at the beginning of the day, the principal or nominee staff member will, as soon as practicable, follow up with the parent/carer to:

advise of the supervision arrangements before school
request that the parent/carer make alternate arrangements.

If a student is not collected before supervision finishes at the end of the day, the principal or nominee staff member will consider whether it is appropriate to:

attempt to contact the parents/carers
attempt to contact the emergency contacts
place the student in an out of school hours care program (if available and the parent consents)
contact Victoria Police and/or Child Protection to arrange for the supervision, care and protection of the student.

Disability Inclusion

Krongold Centre

Families often ask where they can access affordable educational and developmental assessments. One option is The Krongold Clinic, a university-based clinic operated through the Faculty of Education at Monash University.

The clinic provides affordable psychological assessment and counselling services for children and adolescents aged 4–18 years, with all services supervised by experienced registered psychologists. We encourage you to speak with your child's teacher or me before booking an assessment.

Assessments the centre offers include:

Cognitive and intellectual assessments
Literacy and numeracy assessments
Educational and psychoeducational assessments
Attention and executive functioning assessments
Social, emotional and behavioural assessments
Adaptive functioning assessments
Support for identifying specific learning disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

One of the key benefits for families is affordability, with reduced fees available for Health Care Card holders.

Cyber Safety

Cyber Safety Tip: Setting Healthy Screen Time Habits

Gaming and online activities can be fun, but balance is important. Families may find it helpful to set clear expectations around screen time, sleep, homework and outdoor play. Creating tech-free times or spaces at home can also support healthy habits.

The Cyber Safety Project offers the Cyber Safe Parents 2026 Webinar Series, a practical, engaging online program designed to help families raise smart, safe, and kind digital kids.
