HOUSE ATHLETICS WEEK!!
Wow what a wonderful start to the term in the areas of Phys Ed and Sport and a very proud time to be a part of HPE at the Heights!
Congratulations to everyone on the amazing efforts of our house athletics week!
The senior school athletics carnival was held on July 30 at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium for our year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students. The house colours were flowing with students coming in their team colours to the track. The students all competed in 6 events for the day including- shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, 100m and student choice of 200m, 800m and hurdles. It was so nice seeing our students walking around with multiple ribbons of their individual successes on the day. We will now use the results from this carnival to select our interschool athletics squad which will compete at the BDSSA carnival on August 21.
The junior school athletics carnival was held on July 31 for the foundation, year 1 and 2 students. The students came to school dressed in their house colours and competed in their house teams in 8 athletics events on the oval including- modified shot put, discus, relay, hurdles, high jump, long jump, George's gumboot toss, sack jump sort and egg and spoon race
Then after recess the students competed in the house sprints where all students scored points for their house and went home with a ribbon. We couldn't be more happy with our students enthusiasm, personal best and team work. Thank you to all our staff and student leaders for supporting our students in a very successful carnival!
Thank you to all the parents, carers and families who came to support our students in our house athletics week! What a great school community we have here at the Heights.
And finally...... drum roll please.......Well done to BANKS for winning both the junior and senior carnivals this year!
BDSSA TEE BALL
Well done to our Rockets Girls and Boys Teeball teams who compete in the BDSSA Tee Ball Gala day on July 29. Coach Taleski and Mrs Maxwell coached the teams on the day and were so proud of the students passion, team work, comradery, and leadership shown on the day. Both teams finished runners up on the day in their pool.
YEAR 5 AND 6 HOOP TIME
On Friday August 1st, Coach Taleski and Mrs Maxwell coached 32 students in our annual Hoop Time Basketball Tournament, with Mrs Tamburini as our team manager. We took a Rockets and Jets boys and girls team to compete in the day. We had some very tough games with some great competitors against us. Well done to our Rockets and Jets girls who made the grand final for their fixture and finishing runners up! A first for Mrs Maxwell and Coach Taleski to coach a heights team in a hoop time grand final!
We had some amazing student leadership amongst our teams. Well done to all students involved!
WHITTLESEA DIVISION NETBALL TOURNAMENT
After a successful summer sport season in term 1 the Rockets Girls Netball team progressed to the Whittlesea Division Netball Tournament on August 7 and what a day it was!
The girls played 4 games across the day, playing the first 3 in a row. They won 3 out of 4 games and finished runners up! It was a privilege to coach the girls at such a high standard of netball. This was our school values at its best!!! The Mill Park Heights spirit was at an all time high and our respect for each other, collaboration and perseverance was incredible. Well done girls!
Heights, heights, heights, Goooooo heights!!!
