ES Curriculum Day Professional Development

On our Curriculum Day last week, our Education Support Staff were fortunate to have various sessions as part of their Professional Development. We had The Happy Space Speech Pathologists come out to teach us about a new Program: The Game Of Language Abilities (GOLA) which we have implemented for some of our students. Our ES also had follow up Sounds Write training and finally some work around using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices.  What a successful day- we are grateful to our hard working ES staff!

Open Parachute - How to Build Strong Communication with Your Child

Open Parachute is an online platform that we are using as a school to dig deeper into student well-being. In class students view videos of age appropriate challenges faced by students, and are then provided with proven strategies by clinical psychologist Dr Hayley Watson. This creates proactive positive mental health, and comes from research designed to reduce incidents of a range of mental health challenges, potential conflict and bullying.

Below is a link to a learning module called "How to Build Strong Communication with Your Child".

It takes around 30 minutes to complete, with the learning objectives of:

  • develop strong communication skills to build trust, resilience and emotional health
