St Peter’s Cross Country – Friday 27 March
Our Cross Country event was held on Friday 27 March, with our Year 5/6 students kicking off the races before supporting younger students throughout the event.
While the weather looked uncertain early on, it cleared beautifully for the event itself. A big congratulations to all students who participated — it was an outstanding effort from everyone! Well done to those who gave their best, and a special congratulations to those who achieved top results.
We were also delighted to welcome students from CMC, who provided great support in helping run the day. It was wonderful to see so many families come along to enjoy and support the event.
Principal Conference
Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Victorian Association of Catholic Primary School Principals Conference in Lorne, centred around the theme “Nourish Your Purpose.”
The conference was a valuable opportunity to reflect on leadership, wellbeing and the importance of sustaining purpose in our work. A key takeaway was the importance of taking time to recharge, connect and reflect so that we can continue to lead with clarity and care in our school communities.
I look forward to sharing some of this learning with our staff as we continue to strengthen our work at St Peter’s.
Year 6 into Year 7 Parent/Carer Information Session
Today at 2:30pm in Djak-tjarra, our transition leaders will be hosting an information session for families to support planning for secondary school in the years ahead.
This is an important opportunity for parents and carers to better understand the enrolment timelines, processes, and key considerations when selecting and applying for secondary schools. We strongly encourage families to attend to gain helpful insights and tips to support a smooth transition.
Senior Unit Caritas Fundraiser
This week, on Wednesday 1 April, our Year 5/6 students will be hosting a Caritas Fundraiser, with a range of stalls and activities organised. We encourage students to bring along a few coins (if possible) to support this wonderful cause as part of our Lenten journey of giving and compassion.
Last week’s Caritas Chicken Burger fundraiser raised over $400 — an incredible effort! A massive thank you to Alex Love-Linay and Sarah Andrews for preparing the food, and to Hazeldene’s for their generous donation of chicken to support both our Djak Tjarra program and this fundraiser.
Last Day of Term 1 Festivities
It is hard to believe that this Thursday marks the end of Term 1. Please note that the final day of term will finish one hour earlier than usual, at 2:15pm.
The day will include:
Year 5/6 Camp
In the first week of next term, our Year 5/6 students will be heading to Log Cabins, Creswick for their school camp from Tuesday 21 April to Wednesday 22 April.
This camp provides a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a range of outdoor and team-building activities, developing confidence, independence and stronger connections with one another. We are sure it will be a memorable experience for all involved. A permission note has been uploaded to PAM. Please ensure this is completed by the due date.
Year 3/4 Camp
Also in the first week of next term, our Year 3/4 students will attend a day camp at Campaspe Downs (south of Kyneton) on Friday 24 April. Students will take part in a full day of engaging outdoor activities, running from approximately 8:00am to 6:00pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build friendships, and enjoy a fun and active day together. A permission note has been uploaded to PAM. Please ensure this is completed by the due date.
Upcoming Dates to Note
Easter Term Holidays
Our Easter break will commence on Thursday, 2 April, marking the end of Term 1.
Students will return for Term 2 on Tuesday, 21 April. This slightly extended break allows staff across the Sandhurst Diocese to participate in professional learning with distinguished educational speakers from around the world, supporting continued improvement in teaching and learning at our school.
We hope all families enjoy a restful and enjoyable Easter break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for Term 2.
Prayer for Lent and Easter
Dear God,
During this time of Lent, help us to grow in love and peace. Guide us to seek peace in our hearts and to share it with others each day. Teach us to be kind, patient and forgiving in all that we do. Help us to pursue peace in our words, our actions, and the way we treat those around us.
As we celebrate Easter, remind us of new beginnings and the joy of Your love. Bless our time during the Easter break and bring us back ready to learn and grow in faith.
Amen.
God Bless,
Jeremy Darmody
