Across Rach,Jess & Rach's Desks

Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

We wanted to say thank you for your support as we step into the big shoes of Oliver and Flick. We have felt incredibly supported by the community and it makes us so happy to come to school each day! The students have loved calling us ‘Principal Jess’ and ‘Principal Rach’. We could get used to this! Each morning we have enjoyed checking in with every grade and seeing students working hard to achieve their best.

Not only have students welcomed us, they’ve also warmly welcomed Cheree Beet or 'CJ' into our school community.

CJ will be teaching Prep C on a Tuesday, across a range of grades on a Wednesday and 1C on a Thursday.

GRANDPARENTS & SPECIAL FRIEND’S DAY

What a truly wonderful day we had for this year’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day! It was such a joy to welcome so many of our extended school community onto the school grounds. The hall was absolutely buzzing with excitement as we gathered together, not everyone was able to fit in — a testament to the amazing turnout.

Our school leaders spoke beautifully, sharing the rich history of our school and celebrating how far we’ve come. It was a proud moment to reflect on the many achievements of our community and to see how our school continues to thrive and grow.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing our students beaming with pride as they welcomed their special visitors into their classrooms. The laughter, conversations, and shared learning experiences made for some truly memorable moments.

The Book Fair added even more sparkle to the day! Despite the slight traffic jam in the library (note to self — we may need to rethink the location for next year!), it was a huge success. Thanks to the incredible support from families and friends, we raised over $2000 in Scholastic credit, which will go directly towards purchasing new readers and library books for our students. What a fantastic result!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. And of course, an extra special thank you to Cheryl, whose tireless efforts and dedication make the Book Fair the incredible event it is each year. We’re so lucky to have you!

We’re already looking forward to next year!

SPORTS & ATHLETICS

We have recently had a number of our students attend out of school sporting events such as the grade 5/6 girl’s footy and our annual cross country at Wesburn Park. On both occasions, our students represented our school positively, demonstrating kindness, resilience and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the 18 students who have made it through to the Division level of cross country. We know you will make us proud.

ENROLLING FOR PREP 2026

We have already had lots of enrolments for Prep 2026. The cut off date for enrolments isn’t until the end of July, however we like our parents to enrol as early as possible. This is solely because we want as much time as we can have to determine how many grades in each year level and class sizes.

Our Prep Information Evening is scheduled for Wednesday 18th June. This night is really for prospective parents or new Prep parents for 2026.

UPCOMING EVENTS

It's been a busy few weeks across the school! Here are the key dates coming up:

JESS’ JOKE

One day, a teacher asked her class, "If you had five cookies and someone asked for one, how many would you have left?

"Little Mia raised her hand and said, "Five."The teacher smiled and asked, "Mia, why would you still have five?"

Mia replied, "Because I’m not sharing my cookies!"

Do you have a joke? Come and tell me! I love a good joke!

THE RACH’S RIDDLE

I’m full of keys but can’t open any doors. What am I?
