A message from the Principal

With just days to go, excitement is building for the SKiPPS School Fete this Saturday and I would like to extend a final invitation to all families to come along and be part of what is always one of the most joyful events on our school calendar.

Holding a school fete every two years has become a wonderful tradition at St Kilda Park Primary School, dating back to 2014. Each time we run it, the event represents an extraordinary amount of work from a huge number of people in our community. Parents, staff and volunteers come together to create something truly special for our students and families, and the result is a day that celebrates everything that makes SKiPPS such a vibrant and connected school community.

There is so much to look forward to. From rides and games, food stalls and the ever popular dunk tank, to student performances and live entertainment on our main stage, the day is packed with activities and opportunities for our community to gather, celebrate and have fun together. You can read more about the many attractions and activities later in this newsletter on the Fete page.

You will also see an embedded video on that page created by Mat Gdanitz. Mat has captured the spirit of the SKiPPS fete brilliantly. The video is a wonderful snapshot of what the day is really about: children laughing and playing, families connecting, and a community coming together to support our school.

A few final reminders as we head into the big day:

  • Please sign up for a volunteer slot if you have not already done so. For a small school like ours, we need roughly one volunteer slot per SKiPPS family to make sure the roster is full and the day runs smoothly.
  • Purchase your ride wristbands in advance if you can.
  • Bring along some gold coins for the many stalls and activities on offer (although EFTPOS will be available across the fete).

The fete officially opens at 11:00am with a Welcome to Country from a local Elder, followed by performances and entertainment throughout the day on our main stage.

Events like this only happen because of the energy, generosity and spirit of our school community.

We very much hope you can make it along and be part of the day.

I look forward to seeing you there.
