Mr. Barclay's Briefing!
Hello NPS families!
I will unfortunately start with a bit of a bugbear....The Staff Carpark. Please refrain from both parking here to drop and pick your children up, as well as using the 'never never' gates as a pedestrian entry point. New signs have been erected, and this is not the first time I have asked. With staff coming and going, and people accessing this space, it is not safe for our students.
It has been terrific yet again, to see our students engaged in their learning throughout the past fortnight, and working hard to grow and improve as learners.
Last Friday, all of our staff were deeply engaged in a day of their own learning, which, as a Principal, is always inspiring to see. It's highly important that, as adults and educators, we too continue to learn, grow, be challenged, and look for improved ways to better educate and support our students, and that is exactly what we did. For teaching staff, the day was geared toward building greater knowledge and understanding of the newly released Victorian Lesson Plans and DET's new VTLM 2.0 (Victorian Teaching and Learning Model) - shared below.
A HUGE congratulations to all of our students who competed at the recent District Athletics Day. I was proud of the way every single student represented our school - with great effort and school spirit. Whether it was on the track, in the field events, or cheering on their teammates from the sidelines (my ears are still ringing), our students were fantastic ambassadors for our school community. I do wish to shout out to Lucy T in Year 4 who supported a fellow competitor and schoolmate who fell at the starting line. Lucy's care and compassion supported that student to finish their event and finish it strongly by running beside them and offering encouragement all of the way. When we talk about as a school raising respectful, caring, kind, and supportive kids - that was it, there in action!
The DET's annual Parent Opinion Survey opens next Monday. This survey is one of the most important ways families can help shape the future of our school, giving us valuable feedback that directly supports our planning and growth. I would love to see as many families as possible take part, as every response helps us build a clearer picture of what is working well and where we can improve. The survey link, along with further information, will be shared on Monday, and thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts. I have also shared a snippet of some of the data received last year that we are VERY proud of!

Information was shared earlier this week regarding the possible industrial action that may affect the school next Wednesday, 19th August. I understand this may raise questions for families, and I will certainly share further information as soon as it becomes available. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding while we work through the details.
FINALLY - the time has arrived! Tonight we hold our major fundraiser of the year, the Annual Trivia Night! For those attending,grab your cowboy hats and get ready for a fun-filled evening of trivia, boot scooting, games, and of course, the online auction! It's set to be a fantastic night of laughs, friendly competition, and community spirit - and every dollar raised goes toward supporting our school. I cannot wait to see you there!

Halo NPS Community,
My name is Natalie (Ibu Jones) and I have been teaching Indonesian at NPS for 6 years now!
I have been learning Indonesian since I was 12 years old and have visited Indonesia several times, some of my favourite memories have been going to the amazing markets, practising my Indonesian with the locals and visiting the Monkey Forest in Ubud. A bucket list dream would be to take my two sons Eddie & Sebbie to see the Komodo dragons on Komodo Island!
In my spare time I enjoy, reading, swimming and exploring Geelong with my family.
I love teaching Indo at NPS and seeing our students grow in confidence, have a go and enjoy learning the language and culture!
