Performing Arts

Hello parents, the start of term 2 has been full of exciting events and activities for our students. We will share with you the exciting things happening in our performing arts  and our Wakakirri journey. Wakakirri gives students the chance to tell stories through dance, drama, music, and teamwork. Throughout this newsletter, you will read about our rehearsals, performances, achievements, and the hard work everyone has put in.  We hope you enjoy being kept updated on our occurrences.

In Performing Arts this term the Preps have been working on the musical The Lion King. In Week 4, the Preps all the grades when they dressed up as Simba from the Lion King and paraded through the school. All of the classes enjoyed seeing the Preps dressed up and enjoying themselves. The 1/2’s have been enjoying storytelling. They have been working with puppets. The 3/4’s have been learning about storytelling. They have been really good at expressing their learning and thinking of creative ideas. They are making their own stories based on older stories like the 3 little pigs and the rabbit and the fox. In Year 5/6, the students have been working on script writing.

A couple of weeks ago the 2027 Prep enrollees got to Play with Puppets! Before they started they went to watch some puppets in action with the Muppets. The 2027 Preps did an excellent job on making their own puppets. We had many materials for them to express their creativity, learning all about the dances and stage position to make the show a marvelous performance. We can’t wait to show all of our amazing talents on the stage and bring our story to life. With the themes of Wonka ,  Wonka and the chocolate factory and Charlie and the chocolate factory! We are quite excited to show you everything that we've been working on.We have all been working so hard and believe we can bring the story to life!

Thank you for reading our Performing Arts and Wakakirri Newsletter! We are very proud of all the hard work, creativity, and teamwork shown by everyone involved. Wakakirri has helped us build confidence, learn new skills, and express ourselves through performance. We hope you enjoyed reading about our journey and achievements. We can’t wait to continue creating, performing, and making more amazing memories together in the future!
