Prep Term 2 Highlights

What a fantastic Term 2 it has been in Prep! We are so proud of all the learning, growth and achievements our students have demonstrated throughout the semester.

One of the highlights of the term was celebrating Milo Monkey's Birthday as part of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. This special celebration marked the completion of Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4, meaning our students now know all 26 letters of the alphabet! We enjoyed a day filled with fun birthday-themed activities and were excited to celebrate this important literacy milestone together.

Throughout the term, students have also been exploring our Curiosity Unit, "Where We Live." As part of this learning, students created their own imaginative animals and worked hard to describe their unique features using detailed language. It was wonderful to share their creativity and learning during our Curiosity Expo, where students proudly showcased their work to families and visitors.

In Mathematics, students have continued to build strong foundations and develop their confidence as mathematicians. We have explored patterns, capacity, heavy and light objects, and strengthened our understanding of numbers to 20 through a variety of hands-on and engaging learning experiences.

As we finish Semester 1, we are incredibly proud of the progress every student has made. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to challenge themselves have made Term 2 a wonderful success. We look forward to another exciting semester of learning, growth and achievement in the second half of the year!

Term 2 has been a wonderful term of growth, creativity and community in Year 1. As students have become more familiar with the routines and expectations of Year 1, we have seen increased confidence, independence and responsibility across the cohort.

A major highlight this term was our Curiosity unit, Places and Spaces. Students explored what makes a community thrive and investigated the people, places and services that support us in our everyday lives. They particularly enjoyed designing their own precincts and transforming them into miniature communities for our Community Expo. It was fantastic to see students proudly sharing their creations and explaining their ideas to visitors.

Throughout the term, students have also worked hard on important skills beyond the curriculum. We have focused on teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance and respectful communication. Whether working with a partner, contributing to class discussions or tackling a challenge independently, students have shown great growth in their ability to collaborate, support one another and take ownership of their learning.

Our classrooms have been filled with many memorable moments, from celebrating learning milestones to showcasing student work displays that highlight the effort and pride students take in their learning. We have loved seeing students set personal goals, challenge themselves and celebrate their achievements along the way.

Plenty of learning has taken place too! In Literacy, students have made progress in the Little Learners Love Literacy  program and explored procedure and persuasive writing. In Mathematics, students investigated addition and subtraction, mass, patterns, locations and directions, counting collections and skip counting.

We are incredibly proud of the growth our Year 1 students have shown throughout Semester 1 and look forward to another exciting term of learning, discovery and achievement.

Students researched how different foods are produced and created informative reports and flow charts explaining the journey from the farm to our plate. They proudly shared their work with families and the College community, demonstrating their growing knowledge, creativity and confidence. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this special event.

In Mathematics, students explored the concepts of mass and capacity through a range of practical, hands-on learning experiences. They enjoyed investigating, measuring, estimating and comparing different objects and quantities while developing their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills.

We congratulate our Year 2 students on a successful term and thank them for the enthusiasm, kindness and effort they have shown each day. We also extend our sincere thanks to our families for their ongoing support throughout the term. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break and look forward to another exciting term of learning in Term 3.

Throughout the semester, students have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum. In English, they have developed their skills in reading and writing, including creating information reports and learning how to research, organise, and present information clearly. In Mathematics, students have built their understanding of fractions and have enjoyed applying their learning through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks.

In Curiosity, students worked collaboratively to design and create their own unique islands. They explored geography, climate zones, biomes, food chains, and natural features while using their creativity and teamwork to bring their ideas to life. This project provided a wonderful opportunity for students to share their thinking, make decisions together, and showcase their understanding in meaningful ways.

As Term 2 draws to an end, we would like to celebrate the many achievements and learning experiences of our Year 5 students.

Throughout the term, students have demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity and perseverance across all areas of the curriculum. In Literacy, students developed their research and writing skills through the creation of information reports and causal explanations. They learnt how to gather, organise and present information effectively while deepening their understanding of a range of topics. In Mathematics, students strengthened their knowledge of multiplication and division and applied their learning to real-world contexts.
