Welcome Back To Term 4!
So far, term four has brought some better weather to us all and the adjustment of the clocks with daylight savings. This term is a no-hat-no-play term. All students are required to have a hat for outside time. Students who don’t have a hat from next week will be directed to stay in our designated shade areas. We also ask that all children apply 50+ sunscreen at home before coming to school so they are fully protected during recess. Every classroom contains Woolworths-brand or similar sunscreen, and children are strongly encouraged to reapply it before heading outside for the lunchtime break. Now is a great time to practice this at home with your children to ensure they can do it competently themselves, as staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen to children as part of our child-safe practices.
Parent requests for 2027 class placement
Next week I will be sending out my annual communication for parents to send through requests for class placement in 2027 for my consideration. I will do this via a separate Compass Newsfeed. Please return requests by the cited date, as requests submitted after that date are unlikely to be accommodated.
Road safety in the surrounding streets
A friendly reminder about the best safety practices when dropping off or picking up children in Lower Road. The area can be challenging at the best of times, but even more so on days when a larger-than-usual number of people try to pick up children at the end of the day. It is important to collect students from the kerbside rather than coaching them across the road to get into your car. We also ask that consideration be given to our neighbours and their ability to access their own driveways. It is tricky having limited access to our drop-off area, but if we can all show patience and care, children will always be safe.
Bike Rack relocation for senior school students
With the warmer weather, we have more students riding bikes to school. To cater for this, we have relocated and increased the number of bike racks for year 5/6 students to the sheltered area adjacent to the veggie patches. This allows easy access through the gate, and students have already expressed their delight, as it provides quicker entry at both the start and end of the day. We ask that your child bring their own bike lock to secure their bike for the school day in this area.
Student Free day reminder
Monday, 2nd November, is a Professional Practice Day for teachers; therefore, no students are required at school. Tuesday, 3rd, is a public holiday for Melbourne Cup Day.
Our OSHC program will be offering all-day care. Please contact them on 9439 9639 or via email 4212-OSHC@schools.vic.edu.au should you require care on this day. Bookings are essential.
Regional athletics next week
Next Thursday, we have 6 students representing our school at the Regional Athletics Carnival at Meadow Glen Athletics Track in Epping. Best wishes to Annabel H, Frankie P, River S, Holly B, Angus F and Sharleez G for the event. We look forward to hearing about your experience.
Wishing everyone a great first weekend of term 4!
