Sacred heART Show: A Celebration of Creativity!
What a spectacular celebration of creativity, imagination and learning! Our Sacred heART Show was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the artistic achievements of our students and celebrate the incredible creativity that flourishes in our Visual Arts program.
Presenting and sharing artwork is an important part of the Victorian Visual Arts Curriculum. It provides students with the opportunity to reflect on their creative journey, celebrate their achievements and share their artistic ideas with an audience. One of the most rewarding parts of the Art Show was seeing our young artists proudly guiding their families through the exhibition, explaining their creative processes, discussing their inspirations and sharing what they had learnt.
While the finished artworks were certainly impressive, it is the learning behind each piece that makes them truly special. Throughout the year, students have explored a wide range of artistic techniques, including textiles, drawing, painting, construction, modelling and printmaking. Along the way, they have developed so much more than artistic skills. Visual Arts nurtures teamwork, resilience, patience, creative problem solving, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It also supports social and emotional learning, encourages self expression and builds meaningful connections with literacy and numeracy. Every artwork tells a story of experimentation, perseverance, discovery and growth.
A heARTelt thank you!
An event of this scale simply wouldn't be possible without the generosity, enthusiasm and support of our wonderful Sacred Heart community.
To our amazing Sacred Heart staff, thank you for creating the beautiful collaborative year level artworks with your students for the online auction, lending your muscles for the heavy lifting, sacrificing lunch breaks and staying late to help bring the exhibition to life. A very special thank you to Liz Olney and Kelly Story, whose creative problem solving, and willingness to go above and beyond were invaluable in setting up and running the show.
Thank you to Libby Mulhall for organising our talented Senior Drummers, who provided such a wonderful welcome to the opening celebrations, and to Jenny Stokes from the Creative Music program and our student musicians, for adding a beautiful musical atmosphere to the evening.
A huge thank you to our Parents Association, Year 2 parents and Chelsea Bateman for their tremendous efforts in organising the fabulous art themed lunch, wonderful raffle and online auction. Your enthusiasm and hard work made such a difference to the success of the event.
To our Year 6 student leaders, thank you for rolling up your sleeves and helping with the exhibition preparations. And to our fantastic Art Captains Alexia and Grace, thank you for your boundless enthusiasm, leadership and for running the interactive workshops throughout the show, creating a spectacular collaborative artwork for everyone to enjoy.
Of course, the biggest congratulations must go to our talented young artists, whose creativity, curiosity and hard work were at the heart of this very special event.
Supporting creativity beyond the classroom
All funds raised through the Sacred heART Show will go directly towards enriching our Visual Arts program in 2027, helping to fund excursions to art galleries and incursions with local practising artists.
These experiences are incredibly valuable. Visiting galleries allows students to experience artworks firsthand, engage with different artistic styles and ideas, and develop a deeper appreciation of art in the wider world. Working alongside practising artists brings fresh perspectives, introduces exciting new techniques and helps children see themselves as artists too. These opportunities inspire curiosity, broaden creative thinking and make meaningful connections between classroom learning and the wider artistic community.
Thank you to everyone who visited, celebrated, contributed and supported our Sacred heART Show. Your generosity will help us continue to create inspiring artistic experiences for our students in 2027.
What a wonderful reminder that art is so much more than what we create. It's everything we learn along the way!
