Footy Colours Day

What a beautiful spring day we had to finish off a busy Term 3!

Students took part in a little parade with everyone getting involved, showing great sportsmanship and proudly wearing their team colours.

The day culminated in our Longest Kick Competition for Year 5 and 6 students. There were some impressive kicks on display, with Danya K winning the Girls’ competition with a fantastic kick of 28.9 metres. This was just 20cm short of her sister’s effort back in 2023! Leni S (class of 2025) continues to hold the record with a kick of 34.76m.

In the Boys’ competition, Levi D (Year 5) took out the title with an outstanding kick of 38.85 metres. Patrick H (class of 2025) continues to hold the record with a kick of 40.02m.

Congratulations to all students who participated and to everyone who proudly represented their team throughout the day.

Nationals, Marathons, Charity Runs and the upcoming 2XU Wellness Run

It’s been a busy time for the runners at CSPS!

Year 6 student Yuval proudly represented CSPS at the National Cross-Country Championships, held in Sydney during the final week of Term 3. Yuval finished an impressive 25th in his age group, competing against the very best cross-country runners from across Australia. This is an outstanding achievement and a wonderful testament to Yuval’s love of the sport, commitment and dedication to his training.

Congratulations, Yuval! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and look forward to seeing what you can accomplish at high school and beyond.

A big congratulations to Mr Cooper on completing the Geelong Marathon at the start of the school holidays. Apparently, running 42.2 km wasn’t quite enough of a challenge for our Principal, so he decided to throw some very strong headwinds and unseasonal warmth into the mix as well! Great effort, Mr Cooper!

Charlie S from Year 6 participated in the Global 6k for Water Run in Singapore. The run raises money for communities that don’t have accessible to safe drinking water in Asia and Africa.

“I did it with Grandpa and Dad. The run was 6km. There was music playing loudly to get yourself upanabout. The run was hard, it was hot and it was hard to breathe. Despite this I ran in front of the leader. The course marshals then helped tell me which way to go. I finished first and was interviewed by World Vision. It was a fun experience to run in another country and support a good cause.”

Next up is Sarah in the office, taking on the Melbourne Marathon Festival half marathon in her brand-new, bright, clean and fast shoes! Good luck Sarah!

And finally, we have Year 4 teacher Mr Briggs, who is taking on his first-ever full marathon on Sunday. After plenty of training and kilometres in the legs, we’re sending him plenty of positive vibes. We’re also looking forward to seeing whether he can still walk normally on Monday!

We also have a number of CSPS parents and students participating in a range of events at the Melbourne Marathon Festival over the weekend. We wish them all the very best of luck!

Looking ahead, there are plenty of CSPS students, parents and staff getting involved in this year’s 2XU Wellness Run (November 22). Training is well underway, so keep up the kilometres and get ready for the big day! If you’re entering, make sure you join the CSPS team and represent our school while getting active and having some fun along the way.

Division Athletics

Congratulations to all of our students who competed in the Division Athletics Carnival yesterday at Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track.

It was a beautiful day for athletics, with our students representing CSPS with excellent sportsmanship, determination and enthusiasm throughout the day. It was also fantastic to see some students competing at this level for the very first time.

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed and gave their best. You should all be very proud of your efforts!
