Faith Leaders Network
Our Faith Leaders from across the schools gathered to explore the ongoing challenge of making prayer and liturgy inclusive. We were fortunate that the very inspiring Salesian priest Fr Elio Capra was able to share his infectious energy for making liturgy more inclusive. In addition to his many years of studying and teaching liturgy, Elio has more recently studied Art Appreciation; through ancient and contemporary art works, Elio explored with us the question “Is your God too small”. We were reminded that to make prayer inclusive, we need to find symbols and language that speak to our young people of the 21st century, enabling them to bring their actual experiences of being human to these moments.
New Leaders' Induction
It was such a joy to have new leaders in Kildare Ministries schools gather together at the Brigidine Ministry Centre. Their enthusiasm for the task of leading with welcome and inclusion in this year of Hospitality was energising. Nicole Mangelsdorf and Jane Collopy led participants to reflect on their own leadership journey and connect into the story of leadership in Kildare Ministries, inspired by the example of Brigid, Nano and Daniel. The leaders shared how significant it is to be leading with an intentional commitment to inclusion, ensuring that every member of the community feels welcome and accepted for who they are, especially when facing the more difficult circumstances.
Justice Leaders Network
Teachers from across the schools came to the Brigidine Ministry Centre to plan the student Social Justice Seminar at Amberley in March. After reflecting on how we bring ourselves to the messy and complex issues of today’s world, the Justice Leaders brought great excitement to the day, as we shared what passion our students have for making the world a more just place for others, and opportunities for connecting with our three Community Works were shared.
