Reconciliation in Action

RAP Team & Connect Group

St Paul Lutheran School

Acknowledgement of Country

At St Paul Lutheran, we acknowledge all First Nations people within our school community. We offer our respects to the Kaurna people and their elders past, present, and emerging and recognise their deep relationships to the land. We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are Australia's first storytellers, artists, communities and creators of culture. We appreciate the gum trees, lorikeets and magpies we see on the big park and in nature play and commit to caring for and respecting these lands, just as the Kaurna people have for generations. We promise to protect and nurture the environment, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming space for all. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At St Paul Lutheran School, we envision reconciliation as a daily practice rooted in respect, truth, and shared learning. We honour the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

We believe every child is curious, intuitive, creative, playful, and unique. Our Reggio Emilia-inspired Image of the Child guides us to see children as active participants in shaping a more just and inclusive future. Reconciliation begins by listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's voices and empowering them to lead.

We commit to:

Building respectful, two-way relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  Embedding First Nations perspectives meaningfully across our curriculum.  Creating culturally safe spaces for all children and families.  Supporting ongoing learning and reflection for staff and children.  Celebrating diversity and unity in our shared journey.

We walk together in our values: we are curious, we are kind, we make a difference, and we belong nurturing a community where every child can flourish and every story is honoured.
