From the Office

AEU Stop Work Action - As many in our school community will be aware, on Tuesday there will be a state-wide 24-hour stop-work action for many in the Victorian education community as they advocate for better school funding and improved conditions for staff and students. As it happens, our school already had Student Learning Catch Ups organised before this date was set and so I am not expecting any changes to our plan to run these at this stage. I will let families know if there are any changes to this and also share information regarding any further stop-work action that may be planned.
NAPLAN - Grade 3 & 5 NAPLAN Testing finished earlier this week. Later in the year we will receive individual student results which will be sent home to families once they arrive.
Student Learning Catch Ups - We are looking forward to holding Student Learning Catch Ups on Tuesday, these will be a great opportunity to discuss student learning with your child's teacher. A reminder that there is no 'normal school' on Tuesday but students are expected to come along to their Learning Catch Up please.
School Council Update - On Monday evening our Annual General Meeting of the Raywood PS School Council was held. At this meeting Lisa Ashley was elected as the school's new School Council Present and Sophie Burn was elected as the school's new School Council Vice President. Congratulations to both Lisa and Sophie and a big thank you for making this contribution to our school.
Smile Squad - A reminder that Smile Squad are visiting us next week, this will be on Thursday and Friday now (not Monday as previously advised). Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program and provides free dental services to students at school during school hours and at local community dental clinics. This includes any general treatment that is needed. Please consider signing your child up if you haven't already by either heading to think link (https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic) or collecting a paper form from school.
Bus Run Changes - From Monday morning our school bus run with Des will have some changes. Individual notes were sent home with students earlier in the week regarding new bus times and stop information. Please contact me at school if your child catches the bus and you did not receive this.
Mural Painting - Wonderful to have our mural finished last week at school. Students had a blast seeing their vision come to life and participating in the painting process. It has certainly brightened up our school grounds!
Winter Uniform Order - Later today I will be placing a school uniform order. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to order any items for your child, particularly thinking ahead to the winter months as there is usually a bit of a wait between ordering items and them arriving back at school.
Student Awards - Congratulations to our recent award winners! Three awards are celebrated each Friday at our school: the Raywood PS Principal's Values Award, Student Values Award and an award connected to our learning with The Resilience Project.
Upcoming Playgroup Easter Visit - Next Friday we will have the local playgroup visit us for some Easter Craft, a story and some activities. All are welcome from 10am.
Last Day of Term - Our last day of term will be on Thursday 2nd April as the Friday will be the Good Friday Public Holiday. School will finish at 2.20pm on this day and the bus will run an hour early to match this time. Our first day back of Term 2 will be Monday 20th April and then we will have a busy week with Cross Country on the Tuesday and ANZAC Day on the Saturday.
Thanks Everyone,
James
