Grade 3/4 Bulletin

Kitchen Garden Program

The grade 3/4's have had such a wonderful opportunity to experience the Kitchen Garden program this term. Supported by Karen in the kitchen and Anna in the garden, it's been a fantastic opportunity for the grade 4's to continue to strengthen the skills they have learned throughout grade 3, and for the grade 3's a chance to gain new and exciting skills. The program has been designed to offer children the chance to develop important gardening and cooking skills and will (hopefully) transfer to home!

Swimming Carnival

This term, our swimming lessons took place at Harold Holt Swimming Centre, while the carnival was held at Ashburton Pool. For many Grade 3s, this was their first taste of a sporting carnival, and they embraced it with excitement. Some students proudly represented our school at the district level. Decked out in their house colours, they competed in races, enjoyed some free play, and supported their friends and peers. For our Grade 4s, it was a chance to build on the fun and confidence from last year’s event!

Easter Bonnet Parade

Students arrived at school in their Easter Bonnets. There was a whole school assembly. Each class starting with 5/6 and ending with Grade 1's had the chance to walk along the catwalk and present their hats.

Prizes were awarded for.

  • Sustainability
  • Creativity
  • Prettiest hat
  • Silliest hat
  • Matching the Easter Bonnet Parade theme
  • Best bonnet overall

Students were encouraged to raise money towards the installation of a chair in memory of Edward Millear who attended Armadale Primary School through 2019 and sadly passed away recently.

NAPLAN with the Grade 3's

Our Grade 3s should feel genuinely proud of how they tackled NAPLAN this year. Despite some technology hiccups across the country, they showed resilience and did their best in each assessment. Meanwhile, the Grade 4s worked togther using the time to deepen their own problem-solving skills. These involved looking at similar maths concepts, worded problems, and strengthening their knowledge. For the Grade 4s, it was a great warm-up as they look toward their own NAPLAN next year.

Hockey Clinic

Earlier this term we had a special hockey clinic run by TEMs (Toorak East Malvern Hockey Club). The coaches came in to lead engaging sessions during our Wednesday 3/4 sport program. The students had a fantastic time learning new skills and getting a feel for the sport, with lots of enthusiasm and teamwork on display.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart was a huge success this term, all thanks to Katie’s initiative. We saw kids from across the whole school getting active and skipping together. Whether it was during recess or lunch, students were out there jumping ropes, mixing with younger year levels, and just having a great time.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
