A Child Safe School 

Equity is a state of fairness in which all children and young people can participate freely and equally in areas of life, regardless of their background, characteristics, or beliefs. This means their safety is not dependent on their socio-economic, family, or personal circumstances. 

Our Diversity and Equity Policy specifically addresses providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where equity is upheld and diverse needs are respected and supported, and outlines strategies and actions for our school including: 

• actively nurturing and promote a culture where everyone is treated with respect and dignity 
• ensuring students are not discriminated against (directly or indirectly) and that adjustments are made as required so that all students can participate in their education and school activities on the same basis as their peers 
• acknowledging and responding to the diverse needs, identities, and strengths of all students 
• encouraging empathy and fairness towards others 
• challenging stereotypes that promote prejudicial and biased behaviours and practices 
• contributing to positive learning, engagement, and wellbeing outcomes for all students
