When do students go into summer uniform?

Students officially change from winter to summer uniform from Week 9 Term 3, Monday, 14 September 2026.

NOTE:  Parents were advised via Compass on Friday 4 September, that due to warmer weather duirng the week, students may also wear Summer uniform beginning this week, Monday 7 September.

Changes to Year 5 and Year 6 Overnight Camps

With the implementation of the revised NSW HSIE Syllabus in 2027, the Stage 3 Democracy and Government unit will be taught in Year 6 rather than Year 5 where we usually teach it. Because our Canberra trip directly supports this curriculum outcome, this change will impact our Stage 3 overnight Camp schedule.

Camp Schedule (Starting 2028)

  • Year 5: The Tops, Stanwell Tops (Term 4)

  • Year 6: Canberra (Term 3)

To ensure a smooth transition, and to guarantee that no cohort misses out on either destination, our Camp Schedule next year will be:

2027 Camp Schedule

  • Year 6: The Tops, Stanwell Tops (Term 1)

  • Year 5: The Tops, Stanwell Tops (Term 4)

SJB Public Speaking Competition

On Monday 7 September, our Year 4, 5 & 6 students gathered in the hall to watch 12 Stage 3 finalists present their public speaking speeches. Each student demonstrated their unique speaking style, captivating the audience with well-prepared speeches. The competition celebrated the students' hard work, showcasing their developing public speaking skills and encouraging their peers to take on similar challenges in the future.

We congratulate the following winners:

A special congratulations to Theo and Alba, who will now represent our school at the South Eastern Regional Competition.

We extend our sincere thanks to Anthony and Tony from Toastmasters for generously giving their time and expertise in adjudicating the competition. Their feedback and encouragement were invaluable, and we are grateful for their support of our students.

Lost Uniform Items

Due to the increase of lost uniform items, we have introduced a new system for returning lost items to their owners.

When items of clothing are found, they will be sent to the office. Items with names on them will be given to their owners. Items that are not labelled will be place into the Lost Property tub. This tub will remain in the office area for students and parents to look through.

If the same unlabelled items remain in the tub for a period of time they will be moved to the Second Hand Uniform Shop.

We ask that labels are regularly rewritten. In many cases, it is obvious a name has been written on the item, however it is no longer readable. Additionally, we often see items with names of students who have left our school.

Science & Technology & Religion Books Coming Home For Sharing & Celebration!

Get ready to celebrate your child's learning journey in Science & Technology and Religious Education! Next Friday (Week 9), your child will bring home their Science & Technology & Religion book, filled with fantastic work and progress. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to share their learning with you and for you to provide encouragement and celebrate their achievements.

Inside their book, you'll find a Parent Reflection and Celebration Slip. We invite you to take a moment to leave a comment, share your thoughts, and acknowledge your child's efforts. We look forward to continuing our partnership and working together to help your child thrive and grow in their faith, learning, and well-being so they can truly live life to the full.

Please ensure that your child’s books are returned to school on Monday 21 September (Week 10).

Soccer Gala Day 2026

This year’s Soccer Gala Day was such a wonderful day full of sunshine and soccer skills to boot! Both our Junior and Senior teams gathered together at Ocean Park, Woonona on Friday, 23 August. SJB students from Years 3 through 6 got the chance to lace up their boots and take the field!

Joining up with other local Diocesan Primary schools, our players tackled a full schedule of matches throughout the day. For a few of our students, this was their very first time playing soccer, but their energy, grit, and willingness to dive right in was incredible to watch.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and our students were outstanding ambassadors for St Joseph’s—competing hard, looking out for one another, and keeping sportsmanship at the heart of every game. Seeing so many happy faces enjoying active, outdoor fun made the day a huge triumph.

A massive thank you to our dedicated teachers for getting the students ready, and to the wonderful parent volunteers who kept things running smoothly as team managers. We truly couldn't do it without your ongoing support! We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the staff and student referees. It was a fantastic showcase of our community coming together to promote teamwork, skill development, and the simple joy of playing sport.

 PB4L Expectations and Reminders

Setting clear expectations for behaviour and uniform is essential to ensure all students are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. To reinforce these standards, we are regularly re-teaching our school's expectations within individual classes and across the whole school, making sure every student is well-informed. We appreciate parents' support in promoting these high expectations with their children.

Ask your child about the weekly focus for students.

This fortnight's focus:

Be Kind

Your Words and Actions Matter!

Christ has no body but yours,

No hands, no feet on earth but yours,

Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world,

Yours are the feet with which he walks to do Good.
