Week 5 Greeting

It is hard to believe that we have already reached the halfway mark of Term 3! Our students have enjoyed so many fun and engaging events so far, with plenty more still to come. This week, selected Year 3–6 students participated in the District Athletics, where they had the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities and, most importantly, try their very best. We are very proud of the way they represented our school. There are many more exciting events planned for the remainder of the term, including Book Week, with our Book Fair, Book Parade and many more activities, as well as our Japanese-style sports day, Undokai! We are certainly looking forward to another busy and enjoyable few weeks ahead.

早いもので、3学期も折り返し地点を迎えました！今学期はまだまだ楽しいイベントが予定されています。今週は、3～6年生の選抜された児童がDistrict Athleticsに参加し、それぞれが日頃の成果を発揮しながら、何よりも一生懸命ベストを尽くしてくれました。学校を代表して頑張った子どもたちをとても誇りに思います。今学期後半には、ブックフェアやブックパレードなど楽しいアクティビティが盛りだくさんのBook Week、そして日本式の運動会も予定されています！これからの数週間も、楽しく充実した時間になることでしょう。

2026 Swimming and Water Safety Program

By the time this newsletter is published, our 2026 Swimming and Water Safety Program will have concluded. Over the past two weeks, our students have grown tremendously, not only in their swimming and water safety skills, but also in their confidence, independence and self-organisation. Yesterday, I had the joy of visiting our Prep A and Prep B students at GESAC, where it was wonderful to see them swimming so confidently in the water. I also watched them take turns participating in the water safety component of the program, including learning how to safely assist someone in the water using a pool noodle. It was equally wonderful to see so many of our parent helpers there supporting the program. Throughout the past two weeks, many parents have generously given their time to travel with us on the buses or meet us at the venue to support our students and teachers. I would like to sincerely thank all of our parent helpers for their time and assistance. Programs such as this simply could not run as smoothly without the wonderful support of our school community.

このニュースレターが発行される頃には、2026年度の水泳・水上安全プログラム（Swimming and Water Safety Program）が無事に終了していることと思います。この2週間で、子どもたちは水泳や水上安全のスキルだけでなく、自分の持ち物や行動を管理する責任、自立性など、さまざまな面で大きく成長しました。昨日、GESACで水泳プログラムに参加しているPrep AとPrep Bの子どもたちを見に行く機会があり、水の中で自信を持って泳いでいる姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しく思いました。また、水上安全の活動では、順番を守りながら、プールヌードルを使って水の中にいる人を安全に助ける方法を練習している様子も見ることができました。

また、多くの保護者の皆さまがボランティアとして参加してくださっていることも大変嬉しく思いました。この2週間、たくさんの保護者の方々が子どもたちや教職員をサポートしてくださいました。お忙しい中、時間を割いてご協力くださった保護者の皆さまに、心より感謝申し上げます。このようなプログラムを安全かつスムーズに実施するためには、学校コミュニティの皆さまの温かいご協力が欠かせません。本当にありがとうございました。

Bullying Prevention Policy

In addition to the policies that were updated and communicated in our previous newsletter, our updated Bullying Prevention Policy has now been approved by School Council and the Department of Education’s Policy Office. The updated policy outlines our school’s commitment to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students and will also be made available on our school website.

前回のニュースレターでお知らせした各種ポリシーの更新に加え、このたび、改訂されたBullying Prevention PolicがSchool Council学校評議会およびDepartment of EducationのPolicy Officeによって承認されました。改訂されたポリシーは、学校のウェブサイトにも掲載いたします。

Hats Are Back!

From Monday 17 August, students will be required to wear a broad-brimmed hat for all outdoor activities, in accordance with our school’s Sun Protection Policy. Throughout next week, we will continue reminding students of this expectation and supporting them to develop the routine of remembering their hats each day. Following this one-week grace period, all students will be expected to bring and wear their hats whenever they are outdoors, including during recess and lunchtime. Students who do not have a hat will be asked to remain in the designated covered area around the weatherboard building during playtimes. We appreciate families supporting us by ensuring that hats are ready to go for Monday and helping students establish the habit of bringing them to school each day.

8月17日（月）から、本校のSun Protection Policyに基づき、屋外で活動する際には、すべての児童がつばの広い帽子（broad-brimmed hat）を着用することが必要となります。来週一週間は、学校でも子どもたちに繰り返し声をかけながら、毎日帽子を持ってくる習慣を身につけられるようサポートしていきます。この1週間の移行期間の後は、休み時間や昼休みを含め、屋外に出る際には全児童が帽子を持参し、着用することとなります。帽子を持っていない場合は、休み時間中、weatherboard building周辺の指定された屋根のある場所で過ごしてもらいます。ご家庭でも、月曜日から帽子を持って登校できるようご準備いただき、毎日忘れずに持参する習慣づくりにご協力をお願いいたします。
