Snapshots from the week

Balmoral Debating Round 1 and 2 Wrap-Up
Round 2 didn’t bring any wins for our years 9, 10 and 11 teams, however they showcased their short prep skills in a series of close fought debates.
We admire their efforts and resilience. We are especially proud of our two year 7 teams who debuted for the first time in their Round 1 debates this week, arguing the controversial topic that the government should prioritise funding arts over sports.
Whilst 7.2 went down in a closely contested debate against Churchie, 7.1 were victorious against Villanova!
Basketball Gala Day
A strong showing from Balmoral at the Basketball Gala Day, finishing runners-up after a hard-fought and highly competitive final against Bayside State College.
The team demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience, and composure throughout the day, earning their place in the final with consistent performances. The final game was a tight contest from start to finish, with both sides trading momentum, but Bayside narrowly edged ahead in the closing stages.

🎙️ Chalk Talk – Episode 12: Baker Takes Over
In the absence of Mr Barraud, Deputy Principal Mick Baker steps into the host’s seat and takes the reins on this week’s episode.
Joined by Belonging Prefects Khushi Swami and Lewis Walker, the conversation dives into the upcoming Student Summit — a student-led initiative focused on strengthening school culture and addressing key topics, including Multicultural Day at Balmoral State High School.
It’s a great insight into student voice, leadership, and the ideas shaping our school community.
