From the Assistant Principal

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone!

We are fortunate to have exceptional teaching and support staff here at Cheltenham Primary School who are always looking to work together to further extend their knowledge and hone their skills.

We spent the Curriclum Day (April 27) investigating MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) and how we, as a school, can improve our classroom instruction to cater effectively for all students in our inclusive learning environments.

Teaching staff undertook audits of both their Numeracy and Literacy curriculum to ensure multiple entry points and clear progressions throughout their planning. Additionally, our In-class educational support staff developed their understanding of the Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS) and how their roles are integral to building a positive learning environment both inside and outside the classrooms.

Attendance Reminders

As we start the new term, I would like to offer a reminder of our Attendance expectations.

  • Attending school each day is important for all students to ensure they can experience what really counts – learning, friendships, fun and all the opportunities that can shape their futures.
  • Please, where possible, schedule family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time.
  • If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships or schoolwork, please encourage them to come to school as avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can reinforce negative patterns of behaviour.
  • If your child is having difficulty attending school or if you need support in building regular school attendance, please talk to their teacher or contact me directly to discuss the supports we can offer.

If your student/s must miss school, please notify us as soon as possible by calling main reception or adding an attendance notification to Compass.

Finally, I wish our fabulous Year 5 & 6 students, and their teachers, a wonderful time at Camp this week.  I hope they embrace the fun, friendship, and new experiences they encounter and we look forward to hearing all about their adventures once they return!
