Principal Address

Dear Parents,

We are almost halfway through the term already! It is hard to believe.

This term, all teachers have been focusing on behaviour education. The premise is simple: behaviour is learnt, so it can also be taught. Behaviour education is different from behaviour management. While behaviour management is often reactive, behaviour education is proactive. Rather than simply responding to undesirable behaviour when it occurs, we explicitly teach students what positive behaviour looks like, sounds like and feels like.

The Bible also emphasises the importance of intentionally training children. 

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Good behaviour and Godly character do not develop by accident. They require teaching, modelling, encouragement and consistency.

Ultimately, our goal is greater than simply producing well-behaved students. We want to help our students grow in Christ-like character. We want them to learn to show kindness, patience, self-control, respect and compassion, not merely because these behaviours are expected at school, but because they reflect the character of Christ.

A kind reminder that next week is Book Week! We are very excited for our Book Parade on Thursday, 27th August. You are all welcome to attend this fun event and we look forward to seeing all the amazing costumes. The Book Fair, running from Wednesday to Friday next week, will also be a great opportunity for our students to find their next favourite book.
