IDAHOBIT Day

IDAHOBIT Day

On Tuesday 19th May, our Mordialloc College Student Council Community & Wellbeing, and Promotions & Fundraising committees teamed up with Mordialloc College Student Services and Kingston Youth Services to bring pride and awareness to our community.

IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia) commemorates the day that homosexuality was declassified as a mental disorder, over 50 years ago.

Our students came together at lunchtime to contribute to a floor mural of chalk-art, purchase Skittles, or a rainbow face paint, all while listening to some of our favourite queer anthems pumping through the speaker. It was fantastic to see so many kind donations from students willing to stand up against queerphobia, and support the safe space which we have worked hard to create for our queer students and staff.

All donations collected will be put back into the Wellbeing space, to help create more events in the future that celebrate the diversity of students, and the inclusivity we are proud to have at Mordialloc College.

Stay kind, stay respectful!
