Learning to Care for Creation through Design, Sustainability and Catholic Social Teachings
This term, our students from Prep to Year 6 will be exploring how our learning can help us to care for one another, our environment and the world we have been entrusted with.
Our Prep–Year 4 students will explore Design Technology, while our Year 5–6 students will investigate Economics and Business.
Although the learning looks different across the year levels, both areas will be connected through our Catholic Social Teaching and our call to be stewards of creation, carers of our common home and people who look beyond our own needs to consider the needs of others.
Throughout the term, students will be encouraged to think creatively about what we already have around us and how we can reuse, recycle, redesign and repurpose materials rather than allowing them to go to waste. They will consider how the choices we make about resources can have an impact on people, our environment and the common good.
This learning will culminate in our P–6 Christmas Market on Wednesday, December 9, where students will have the opportunity to share and sell some of the creations they have designed and made. More information about the Christmas Market will be shared with families throughout the term.
We hope this experience will help our students recognise that being a follower of Jesus calls us to take action, care for creation, use resources wisely, support those who are vulnerable and contribute to the common good.
We look forward to seeing where our students' creativity, curiosity and compassion take them as they design, create, make thoughtful choices and put their learning into action.
We warmly invite all families to join us for our Christmas Market on 9 December. More details will be coming soon!
